Community Development Individual research project | 2026
This project tests whether the HGI modular mass timber system can work .The scheme keeps the system’s structural grid, module dimensions and prefabricated components. The sheme is a five-storey community housing block. Two angled wings follow the line of the site, and a double-height ground floor opens onto a shared landscape.

Floor Plan 1. The Bathroom 2. The Ballroom 1. The Bathroom 2. The Ballroom 1. The Bathroom 2. The Ballroom 1. The Bathroom 2. The Ballroom
The typical floor is assembled entirely from catalogue modules placed on the fixed structural grid. Units sit either side of a central corridor in each wing. The cores are placed at the junction and at the wing ends, so one set of stairs and lifts serves both wings. Internally, the catalogue was reworked for a mixed community rather than a uniform rental building. Larger family units take the corners and wing ends, and dual-aspect homes sit in the connecting middle. Recessed balconies give every unit private outdoor space without breaking the module.
The HGI facade cassette was redesigned for this scheme. The glulam frame is brought to the face of the building as a regular grid, with timber infill panels and balconies set back behind it. Read that way, the repetition of the modules becomes a steady rhythm rather than a stack of boxes. At ground level the frame opens into a glazed double-height base for shared ammenity/cafe space, which gives the block a public edge.
Unit Type Summary
Nine unit types, from studios to three bedroom family homes, are built from the same small set of module widths and depths. Each plan is shown with its module key. Kitchens and bathrooms keep fixed positions within the module, so services stack vertically and prefabrication stays simple.

Standard set of scalable components
The building is made from a standard kit of factorymade parts: CLT floor cassettes, wall panels, volumetric unit modules, facade cassettes and balconies. Each part is sized to fit on a standard truck bed.
Kaira Looro Competition
Individual competition | 2025
An annual international competition focused on humanitarian architecture in sub-Saharan Africa. It invites sustainable, low-cost design submissions that address social needs in rural communities, with themes like education, equality, and emergency relief.

Rainwater from the angled roofs is channelled into a gabion-lined rock bed, where it is filtered and collected, enhancing site drainage while creating a landscape feature.
The site is located in the rural south of Senegal, in the Kédougou Region, known for its warm tropical climate and lush, fertile landscapes. The area is one of the poorest and with the least amount of schools. This context shapes the design challenge of creating a sustainable, climate-responsive nursery school that serves the local community.
Pro Holz Competition Student competition | 2025
This was a student competition taking place in Austria to design an extension to a student accomodatin in Poland entirely out of timber. Living in collectivity implies a constant redefinition of one’s private space. However, it offers the opportunity to gain spatial quality by mutualising certain functions. Inspired by the concept of the Matryoshka doll, our layout is thaught to strategically spread the different needs of each user thourghout the scales. In our opinion, this is not only a way to offer better spatial qualities but also to strengthen the social cohesion of the collectivity.
We approached the materialization of our intervention by enhancing the building’sexisting characteristics. Visually, we have respected the relation between the body and the crown of the building. At the same time, we re-used the existing roof materials as much as possible. We believe that using these materials not only reduces the extraction of new material but gives unique character to the added floors.
Port Moody Kyle Centre PerkinsWill | 2026 For 5 months I worked on the concept design for Kyle Centre Community Centre leading the development of the final report, community engagement and was involved througout the whole design process , including client and consultant meetings.
The community centre features a group of multipurpose, gymnasium and weight room planned around a large central corridor. The planning was designed to be simple, functional while serving the communities needs and functions.
HGI Reasearch Project PerkinsWill | 2026
The PerkinsWill modular timber housing system optimizes the full project lifespan— from design to permitting; manufacturing, transport, and construction; occupancy and future adaptations; to disassembly and reuse. The study creates a viable pathway to deliver critical, desirable housing stock at scale and at speed while supporting Canada’s economy and climate commitments. During my time as a placement student I was able to work on stage two of the design, working on developing the scheme at 10-12 stories as well as developing and rethinking the units so that they could be even more adaptable.
The modular mass timber system brings together structure, planning, enclosure, and services in a clear and repeatable assembly logic. A rigorous grid establishes dimensional coordination across all components, allowing structural elements, façade systems, and interior partitions to align within a common framework. Modular blocks within this grid support a range of unit configurations while maintaining consistency at the building scale. Building services are integrated as coordinated layers, responding to the structural and planning logic rather than driving it. By organizing the system in this way, individual components are able to operate together as a cohesive and optimized whole—supporting constructability, adaptability, and scalable delivery.
HGI Digital Tool
I created a digital tool that allows the HGI Modular timber system to be applied and tested on sites across Canada, against building regulations, unit mix and profitability. A interactive web environment allows you to draw your own site taking parcel data from city databases then you are able to draw your buildings, adjust height and adjust the unit mix.
Phil Freelon Competition PerkinsWill Competition | 2026
‘Human Nuture’ celebrates learning grounded in human-centered connection within a tech-driven densifying environment to reconnect youth, the aging population and the working adult in a way that nurtures sensory-based interaction and fosters a strong sense of identity and belonging in a growing and changing world. This proposal responds by creating a shared civic environment where youth, working adults, and older adults can meet, exchange knowledge, and build meaningful relationships. Through thoughtfully planned, hands-on programs, including art and craft spaces, a music room, dance studio, multisensory room, community kitchen, café, and rooftop gardens the project fosters intergenerational connection and acts as an inclusive “urban living room” where everyone feels a sense of belonging.
Location, Brazil
The building and users can share a set of spaces that can be used to have shared activities such a community movie events, shared meals to create intergenerational connection.
Dutch Desig Week Pavilion TU Delft Archineering Course | 2025
Developed in the Archineerng class at TU Delft, this project explores the potential of parametric design through the reinterpretation of the traditional Zollinger lamella system. The pavilion was designed as a modular and lightweight timber structure for Dutch Design Week, showcasing how digital fabrication and computational modeling can transform historic structural principles into contemporary, adaptable forms. The project emphasizes material efficiency, structural logic, and the expressive qualities of repetitive geometry. The entire class came together to construct the pavilion as a public exhibition that explores traditional wood joinery.
Metamorphosis Individual university project | 2024
Our task was to design a playground structure that encouraged playful interaction for children. Each participant was assigned a specific animal to inspire their design. Inspired by a lobster and working within a limited set of materials, I developed a full-scale model of the structure. This hands-on process allowed me to understand human scale, refine my woodworking skills, and apply essential building principles effectively.
