Clinical Science, Technology and Medicine Summer Internship

Summer 2020 Program Update

Dear SASI Student,

We are excited for your participation in our 2020 summer internship program. Our program this summer will take advantage of the rich opportunity for learning that shelter-in-place and summer break provides, and will be delivered virtually via online digital media and interaction platforms from Stanford to ensure the safety of our students and faculty during the COVID-19 pandemic. Together, along with our Stanford faculty, guest speakers and your peer students, we will engage in an exciting summer internship program that is:

Tailored for career success Our two-week medical internships for high school students and premed undergraduate students seeking careers in clinical medicine, STEM, biomedical research, and the application of technology in medicine.

Guided by leading Stanford faculty We focus on clinical medicine at the intersection of science and technology. We provide exposure to clinical skills such as suturing, splinting, and intubation. Students receive mentorship from Stanford medical students and faculty to cultivate career development.

Empowered with skills and experience As technology continues to transform the way we navigate our medical system, it is imperative to equip students with necessary health care technology skills to anticipate future challenges with thought, inclusivity, and professionalism.

This educational booklet contains additional information about how we will accomplish these goals together.

Yours,

Larry Chu, MD Professor Executive Director

Amy Price DPhil Senior Research Scientist Associate Director

Bassam Kadry, MD Clin. Associate Professor Associate Director Leadership and Career Development
