StAC: Your Legacy, Our Future 2021

Page 1

“

Our ambitious Your Legacy, Our Future fundraising campaign commenced in 2019 and is critical to the success of these important new developments. Our aim is to raise $4 million by the end of 2022. Together as a community, we have already raised $2 million (accurate May 2021), a little over halfway. This is a fantastic opportunity for existing families whose children will enjoy the new facilities for years to come, and also for families of Year 12–13 students, as an acknowledgment of all the sports and cultural experiences they have enjoyed during their time at St Andrew’s College. If you can, please consider leaving your own family legacy in support of these amazing projects. Miranda Newbury DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

“

We believe that we owe it to our current and future students to provide them with the best education within the best facilities we can, which is also true for students engaging in sporting and cultural activities. The continuation of the long history of philanthropy at the College allows us to do this, and also ensures that we honour our Old Collegians and past families by continually striving to maintain the high standards and good reputation which St Andrew’s College has always enjoyed. “

Theatre creation provides students with a network, a community, a sense of inclusivity. It allows them to see the best and worst of people. There are highs and lows, ones which create relationships and also strain relationships, but must be endured all the same, as failure is not an option. Laurence Wiseman HEAD OF DRAMA

Background The St Andrew’s College Drama Club began in 1921. Cultural pursuits have always been an integral part of life at the College. Students immersed in the arts are encouraged to think critically, be culturally aware, take risks, communicate ideas and express themselves. Hundreds of people in the St Andrew’s community visit the Theatre each year to watch our enthusiastic, talented students perform in top quality theatre and ballet productions, music performances and dance revues. The Theatre is also a place where students can learn to participate in behind-the-scenes roles, such as sound, music and lighting, costumes, make‑up, set design, props, stage management, directing and producing. The new Ben Gough Family Theatre is an exciting development, with upgraded facilities to match the incredible talents of our students. Features of the Theatre Complex development include:

Background The original Gym building was opened in 1966. A further $10 million was invested into sports facilities at the College in 2014, with the opening of Gym 2, new hockey and netball courts, and an upgrade to the rugby field. Project One. To make room for the new Ben Gough Family Theatre, we have relocated the existing Fitness Centre to above Gym 1. Along with the construction of a brand new spacious, fullyequipped Fitness Centre, we have strengthened Gym 1, and upgraded the changing room facilities.

How you can help The Fitness Centre build project commenced in December 2019 and was completed for the start of the 2021 academic year. The project includes exterior landscaping and upgraded technology for the Fitness Centre. Your generosity can help us bring this exciting new facility to life.
