As this report showcases, we are the beneficiaries of a tremendous amount of support driven by a passionate and loyal community of Old Boys, parents, and friends. In addition, it is thrilling to look back, ten years on, at our Not an Ordinary Place Campaign and the lasting impact this project had on our campus and student experience. From the Head of School

A

s a school that prides itself on offering the best balance of ‌ academic, artistic, and athletic programming, I reflect on a decade of development and the remarkable facilities our students and staff enjoy. Those facilities would not have existed without the generous support of our community through the Not An Ordinary Place (NAOP) Campaign.

This transformative and ambitious initiative, the most significant capital project in our school’s history by size and scope, aimed to secure the future of St. Andrew’s as one of Canada’s premier boarding and day schools for boys. In an increasingly competitive and complex world, where educational choices abound, maintaining our reputation as a distinctive institution was paramount.

In the fall of 2013, we could only imagine how the visionary spaces of the NAOP Campaign would be used, and over the last decade, we have seen these spaces come to life. We’ve witnessed heartfelt performances that made us laugh and cry in Wirth Theatre; helped students develop a prosthetic hand in the Centre for Leadership, Innovation & Performance that was gifted to someone in need; watched our sports teams succeed in the La Brier Family Arena and the Yuill Family Athletic Complex; and shared some of the most delicious meals in Cole Hall.

The NAOP Campaign was the most ambitious capital project in the school’s history in terms of size and scope, and the lasting effect has proven this to be true. Our goals:

In these ten years, the NAOP Campaign has gone beyond its financial goals and reshaped the very essence of St. Andrew’s programming. Our students have access to world-class facilities that enable them to excel academically, athletically, and artistically, striving to become well-rounded citizens. These enhancements have empowered them to reach new heights and positioned SAC as a beacon of excellence in education.

WIRTH THEATRE

A new home for the performing arts with an enlarged auditorium and thrust-stage theatre to house awe-inspiring music and drama and a gathering space for the entire school community.

Performing on the Wirth Theatre stage was a chance to show the world who I really am, and a dream come true. My skills as an actor were nurtured and developed on that stage from 2019-2023, and I couldn’t be more grateful. I encourage anyone who is a student at SAC to give it a try, because you never know what you’re truly capable of until you do.

La Brier Family Arena & Yuill Family Athletic Complex YUILL FAMILY ATHLETIC COMPLEX

Revitalized upper fields, including a synthetic turf field, running track, baseball diamond, outdoor multi-sports courts, and grandstand seating.

On behalf of the entire athletics program, I thank you for your generosity toward the development of the Yuill Family Athletic Complex. Your support has indeed been a game changer and has had a significant impact on several aspects of our program, including a state-of-the-art turf field facility, enhanced training opportunities, increased school community engagement, attracting top student-athletes, and gaining provincial exposure.

Legacy Campaign Update The Legacy Campaign endeavours to support and give opportunity to the young men of St. Andrew’s, both today and in the future. Growing our Endowment Fund makes a St. Andrew’s education more affordable, enhances the traditions and programs that make us who we are, and provides overall long-term financial strength and security.

As our endowment grows, so, too, does its annual disbursement to the College, making your gift to the Legacy Campaign one that truly keeps on giving.

Our goal is $100M in combined assets: Endowment Fund + Planned Gifts. At launch in the fall of 2019, we had a combined total of $66.9M. As of this report, we are pleased to report that we have accumulated over $86.3M – well on our way to our goal and completion by 2025!

Donor Profile

Amedeo ’85 and Emy Cericola are making a difference on two campuses

Y

ou don’t have to go far from the main entrance of St. Anne’s School before you encounter the Cericola Café, a space named in recognition of a family whose generosity will enhance the experience of Cygnets and Andreans for years to come.

Amedeo Cericola ’85 was a member of the St. Andrew’s First Soccer team and boarder in Memorial House. He and his wife, Emy, have seen their sons, Claudio ’21 and Matteo ’24, attend St. Andrew’s College.

And now, thanks to the unique partnership with St. Anne’s School, their daughter, Julia ’26, is enjoying many of the same opportunities and experiences as her brothers and father.

“It’s going to be great to have my daughter become part of my tradition,” says Amedeo, whose brother, Anthony ’91, is also part of that tradition. “St. Andrew’s is not just about education. It’s about building a good understanding of work ethics.”

Emy recalls being skeptical when Amedeo related stories about his time at SAC, which he remembers as “a community” and a place that prepared him well for life after high school.

“I was not actually believing everything he was telling me,” says Emy. “But seeing the kids so happy about it, I was so glad they switched to St. Andrew’s.”

The decision to send their sons to SAC was sparked by Claudio’s enthusiasm after attending an open house. He and Matteo, both day boys, started their St. Andrew’s careers at the same time.

That left the couple’s daughter, Julia, on the outside.

“That’s something that really broke my heart,” says

Amedeo. But with the realization of the St. Anne’s dream, that all changed. “It just seemed like a no-brainer for us to have our daughter here.”

When deciding to support both St. Andrew’s and St. Anne’s, the family broke their donation into three parts, one for each of their children. That included a gift to the St. Anne’s School Capital Fund, as Amedeo knows more infrastructure is needed.

“This environment is not just for me; it’s also for my kids,” says Amedeo. “We want this place to be amazing.

We want it to succeed. And I wanted to say thank you as best I can.”

That gratitude goes both ways: “The generosity of the Cericola family is foundational to the student experience,” says Sabrina D’Angelo, Head of St. Anne’s School. “In offering support, they ultimately offer opportunities for students to thrive at SAS.” Sabrina notes the Cericola Café is the “hub” of the school, where St. Anne’s community members gather daily to find connection and enjoy nourishing food.

“Shared spaces at Dunin House that provide opportunities like this support the social-emotional development of girls and young women, and we know this is critical for a successful school experience,” says Sabrina.

“The Cericolas have been instrumental in building this important aspect of school life.”

Emy believes the SAC/SAS family tradition will continue into future generations.

“It becomes part of your family,” she says. “Our grandkids will be coming here, for sure.”

St. Anne’s School is proud to have embarked on our groundbreaking Dream it Forward Campaign, the first capital campaign in St. Anne’s history. With the generosity of our community, we aim to raise $20 million in Phase A, to transform Dunin House into a space that fosters our students growth, fuels their passions, and unlocks their boundless potential.
