HEAD OF SCHOOL’S WELCOME

HEAD OF SCHOOL’S WELCOME

St. Andrew's has been educating young men since 1899, and true to our mission statement, we are "dedicated to developing the complete man, the well-rounded citizen." In an increasingly diverse and interconnected world, where traditional masculine ideology is being redefined, I'm pleased to announce our unique and revolutionary partnership with our newly minted partner school, St. Anne's School for girls. Starting in September 2022, students will traverse both campuses, participating in each other's clubs, arts, and social activities, gaining cultural literacy, elasticity of outlook, and making lifelong friendships along the way.

Whether you are new to St. Andrew’s College or a returning student, welcome to the 2022-2023 school year—the school’s 123rd. We anticipate that the Ministry of Education will provide backto-school policies to be followed during COVID-19, but rest assured that students will still be encouraged to share experiences, gather in small groups, and work together. I am confident this will be another outstanding year at the college, full of opportunities to celebrate student successes and a return to the experiences that enrich this community.

In the coming weeks, I encourage you to take some family time to sit down and read this important publication, the Parent and Student Handbook. It contains pertinent information regarding school life. The content is relevant to in-school operation, and the administration reserves the right to modify our approach to academics, student life, and disciplinary matters if the school is operating remotely.

On occasion, I will refer to various rules and regulations in this publication, as will your son’s teachers, advisor, and Heads of House. While all the information is relevant, the sections titled School Principles and Policies, Discipline Process and Consequences, and Boarding Community Standards and Policies are vitally important.

Since verbal messages concerning school rules are often not heard, we have compiled most of the information you need to know for 2022-2023 into this document. Every year, we request that new parents and their sons sign a contract that stipulates they have read the Handbook and agree to abide by the rules and regulations contained therein.

St. Andrew’s College is “not an ordinary place.” This is a special environment that provides abundant opportunities for students to mature and excel. Students are strongly encouraged to become actively involved in all this great school has to offer.

I look forward to seeing you in September and sharing in another exciting year of student success.

Sincerely,

Kevin R. McHenry Head of School
