The Heritage Foundation hosted the school’s annual Remembrance Service on 07 November. Thank you to our school Chaplain, Rev Alison Thabethe, for an uplifting and hopeful service; and thank you to our guests who joined us and enjoyed the quiet re ection time in the ‘Jenny’s Peace’ Heritage Rose Garden, the Chapel, and in the Ruth Kellie Memorial Garden.
OLD GIRLS’ REUNION IN CAPE TOWN
The Heritage Foundation was kindly invited by the Old Girls’ Association to attend their Cape Town reunion in March. It was a great opportunity for the Foundation Manager, Caterina Cannone, to reconnect with past students and collect their joyous stories of their experiences at the School during their time here. The Hockey Astro’s new signage, kindly sponsored by Super Group Dealerships, was completed; and the RMB National Rowing Squad’s billboard, which subsidizes our school’s rowing, and our nominated development team, was installed. The Heritage Foundation is sincerely grateful for the partnership with Super Group Dealerships and RMB, and for the generous funding which has been received as a result.
Donating to charity with every swipe
Just before our Grade 12s commenced their Final examinations, the Old Girls’ Association and Heritage Foundation met with them to wish them all the best, and to gift them with goodies and their own MySchool cards. The MySchool programme affords consumers the opportunity of giving back to their chosen charities, without it costing them a cent! The funds raised through the Grade 12s once they leave school, will benefit the Old Girls’ Association and Heritage Foundation. Both organizations serve to keep our alumnae connected to the School and each other; and both are registered Public Benefit Organisations (PBOs) who raise funds for various needs for the School, including the funding of bursaries and internships.
HERITAGE TOURS Sharing our School’s rich history and heritage

Desere Peters (Rosenberg, 1965) and Amanda Craig (1965) joined Foundation Manager, Caterina Cannone, and School Archivist, Alison Orpen, for tea and a nostalgic tour around the school on 21 February; and marveled at the a nostalgic tour around the school on 21 February; and marveled at the developments since they, themselves, were boarders at St Andrew’s. We welcome any Old Girls to contact the Foundation at heritage@ standrews.co.za to arrange a tour of their ‘old stomping grounds’.

On 5 March, the Foundation Manager, Caterina Cannone, and her predecessor, Bev Smith, gave the Grade 4 girls a lesson on the history predecessor, Bev Smith, gave the Grade 4 girls a lesson on the history of our school, and took them on a tour around our historical campus.

MAINTENANCE AT BEDFORD COURT
Preserving our heritage building for future generations to enjoy
Our Estate Manager, Warren Manson, and his team have been assisting the Heritage Foundation in the maintenance and restoration of the heritage-acclaimed building on our campus, Bedford Court. Any structure older than 60 years is listed on the National Heritage Listing; and is protected by the National Heritage Resources Act. Under this Act, it is the responsibility of the School to preserve and maintain the building, which is now 118 years old. Repairs to the severe water damage in the building commenced this year; the Heritage bathroom has been restored; and the corridor’s wooden paneling has been completed.
