For more than 15 years, the Daily Herald has produced a semiannual special section that publishes the weekend before the general conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Twice a year, the special section addresses topics and issues church members are facing. Past special sections have focused on issues including the role of women in the church, changes in the church, changes in church leadership, businesses that cater to the needs of church membership, children in the church, student athletes in the church and the construction of temples. This year’s special section takes readers back to the beginning — to remember the events surrounding the experiences of church founder Joseph Smith’s First Vision in 1820.
