A new DLC for The Callisto Protocol has been announced, promising a new terrifying chapter to end the game’s story. After the recent addition of The Callisto Protocol’s new mode, players will be able to experience a whole new entry into the horror sci-fi game.

Since the games release, The Callisto Protocol has drawn comparisons to the Dead Space franchise with its gruesome body horror and heavy science fiction elements. Although The Callisto Protocol is indeed from the mind of Glen Schofield, co-creator of Dead Space, the horror title has its own unique features, like a different story and innovative combat mechanics that players seemed to either love or hate. Several updates and a previous DLC that added a far more difficult Contagion Mode has expanded the game’s story, giving fans of the title even more horrifying challenges to try and survive. For players who ultimately enjoyed the game, an upcoming addition to the story will bring protagonist Jacob out to fight one last time.
Final Transmission is the official title of the upcoming DLC that will bring Jacob into the final chapter of The Callisto Protocol‘s story. Based on the title and the story’s finality being confirmed via the game’s official Twitter, this DLC promises a terrifying end to Jacob’s journey. Although the teaser announcing the DLC reveals very little about what players can expect, it at least promises some high tension horror.
For those who own the game on PlayStation, the DLC will be available earlier than the Xbox and PC releases. PlayStation owners can look forward to playing the game 48 hours in advance on June 27, while Xbox and PC owners will be able to experience the chapter on June 29. There has been previous speculation on what expanding The Callisto Protocol’s story could entail, and gamers will finally get to see how Striking Distance Studios has chosen to wrap up Jacob’s story of survival.
After this DLC, the future of The Callisto Protocol is up in the air. The game unfortunately didn’t perform as well as it was anticipated to, but there may still be a future that could expand upon the game’s universe.
Although it seems that Jacob’s story will end with this DLC, there are still opportunities for Striking Distance Studios to develop more horrifying stories that could take place in the same universe. Whatever the future of The Callisto Protocol holds, this DLC will hopefully give the game a satisfying, yet terrifying, ending.
