The MHD collateral design system defines how we use our logos and colours in a range of applications to keep our branding clear and consistent across all mediums, supporting the marketing message for each group or imprint.

Primary Logos These are the primary logos and these examples show a black on white and a white on black backround which should be able to be used in any situation.

Secondary Logos When colour cannot be used, here are examples of the black and white versions of the logo to be used in their place.

logo Spacing The masterbrand logo should always have breathing space. This can be determined by using half of the letter ‘H’.

The main colour is green with various shades of grey. However many other colour can be used for bright, bold graphics.

A colour wheel is a visual representation of colours and can be used to identify the relationship between colour. The MHD colour wheel is an important factor to consider when colouring and lightening hair. Our colour wheel shows primary, secondary and tertiary colours.

Red, Yellow and Blue - Primary colours are colours that cannot be mixed from any other colours.

When mixed together in different combinations, these colours are used to make all other colours. All hair colour is made of different ratios of primary colours.

Orange, Green and Violet Secondary colours are made by mixing two primary colours together. For example Red + Yellow = Orange.

Red-violet, Blue-violet, Blue-green, Yellow-green, Yellow-orange, Red-orange. Tertiary colours are made by mixing a primary colour with a secondary colour. On our MHD colour wheel, a tertiary colour appears between the primary colour and secondary colour that made it.

Shampoo for Normal Scalp Shampoos developed for normal scalp are designed to cleanse the hair and scalp, seal the cuticle and promote shine and manageability. Their pH 4.5-5.5 is the same pH as the hair and skin.

Penetrating Conditioner Penetrating conditioners are developed to penetrate through the cuticle into the cortex of the hair shaft. Depending on the type of penetrating conditioner, their purpose is to either add moisture or restructure the hair shaft. Penetrating conditioners can have a number of ingredients and technologies that work in harmony to temporarily rebuild the structure of the cortex which gives the hair its internal strength.

Shampoo for Oily Scalp Shampoos developed for oily scalp have a combination of ingredients and technologies that work together to regulate sebum production and remove excess oils from the scalp and hair shaft.

Scalp Treatments Scalp treatments can be an number of products designed to work in harmony to either regulate sebum production of an oily scalp or moisturize a dehydrated scalp. Depending on the manufacturer, they can be in the form of a shampoo, conditioner or scalp tonic.

Shampoo for Product Build Up Shampoos developed for product build up in the hair have a combination of ingredients and technologies that work together to remove product build-up, residual impurities and pollutants from the hair shaft. These shampoos do not leave any residue in the hair and are suitable as a pre-service treatment.

Shampoo for Dandruff Affected Scalp Shampoos developed for dandruff affected scalp typically are medicated to treat the dandruff condition, release dry scaling skin and sooth itchiness and discomfort.

Surface Conditioner Surface conditioners are designed to smooth the cuticle and promote shine and manageability of the hair. Their pH value is 4.5-5.5 which is the same as the hair and skin. Some surface conditioners can be described as anti-oxy or antioxidant which means that they have the ability to stop chemical services from processing.

Shampoo for Dry Scalp Shampoos developed for dry scalp have a combination of ingredients and technologies that work together to add moisture to the scalp and sooth and stimulate sebum production to relieve a dehydrated scalp. Their pH of 4.55.5 is the same pH as the hair and skin which helps to seal the cuticle and promote shine and manageability.

Stacey Broughton’s tutorial is an innovative disconnected layered shape on textured hair. The hair is elevated and cut from shorter to longer to maintain length and weight around the perimeter outline. This is worked on both sides moving toward the front with varying degrees of elevation with disconnection in the sides.

In the central section cut a line from short in the front to long in the back, then a parallel section cut from short to long working from back to front in an opposite manner. This technique creates a loose broken fringe shape. The top section is connected in the crown area which is disconnected from the side section, to create the final result of a luxurious, loose, romantic, quintessentially feminine look resonating of casual street chic with home done undertones.

UK Pilot Scheme In 2013, MHDAcademy.com launched a pilot scheme with a number of education providers from across the full spectrum of the industry providing training and ongoing support and working with Depratment Heads to ensure maximum benefit from the product. The aim is to support and promote improvement of their provision as they strives to be outstanding in the delivery of hairdressing skill, learning inside and outside the classroom and being effective and efficient at meeting the needs of learners and employers. Colleges are providing feedback and reports for a White Paper which will assist in refining the website for future developments.
