WOW! IT’S BUSY HERE – LOTS GOING ON! New Arenas to use, a completely different Cross Country Course designed by Mogie Bearden-Muller, and please don’t forget that you and your guests are invited to use the Rider Lounges that are signed around Stable View. Now that the Pavilion is finished, you and your guests are also invited to use this building too. We hope it won’t be raining, but it might be cold – feel free to come over and watch the show and enjoy the view.

In an Eventing context, our planning is now being directed towards our Summer and Oktoberfest HT 2019. Mark Phillips is here today planning for both, while confirming the Cross Country Course for March.

In 2020, our March HT will be Aiken’s first 1*, 2*, 3* and 4* during the Season.

This is a big deal both for Aiken and Stable View.

Please don’t forget our Eventing Academy Schooling Horse Trials Series, Dressage and H/J series. While these events don’t have the profile of our horse trials, over the next few years you will be hearing much more about them as we round out our Equestrian portfolio of events.

Nadine Dorrington I wish I could call myself a lifelong horse person, but I didn’t hear my calling until I enrolled my daughter in a summer horse camp. I walked into the barn and have been lost inside ever since. My passion runs so deep that I have to remind myself of my other obligations; like being a parent and homemaker. In the last five years I’ve immersed myself into the horse world in every way I can think of. I just want to know and see everything.

When I bought my first horse, I wanted to be at a barn where I could ride on some trails. I ended up at an Eventing barn, Cobblestone Farms in Dexter, Michigan.

At that point, I didn’t even know what it was to event. I started volunteering at their derbies and I was a goner. I was up to my eyeballs, in love with the idea that one day I’d be an eventer.

We moved to South Carolina two years ago and I looked for ways to be a part of the equine culture. A Facebook post about Stable View came up on my feed and I immediately looked up Stable View’s webpage.

It offered volunteering opportunities and I couldn’t wait to see the venue. I came out, in person, for the summer Jumper series and I was astounded by the natural beauty, long-range views and barn designs. I was hooked. I would soak up all opportunities to be a part of the Stable View experience.

I’ve decorated cross country, set up stadium, cleaned up the arena during Horses & Harmony, jump judged for multiple horse trials, been the warm up steward for Wednesday schooling dressage shows and been the scribe many times. I am always in disbelief when I see Olympians walk or gallop past me.

Recently, I was able to use my schooling passes that I had received for volunteering, to school at Eventing Academy. I brought my new mount, Loughnatousa Thief. I was able to purchase the first horse that I had ever seen leave the start box from my eventing barn in Michigan. Thief made my dream of cantering the crosscountry course at Stable View come true.

Charles Pinnell

Charles was born and raised in rural South Africa, into a family immersed in horses. He began competing at age 5 and in his teens achieved his Pony Club A Rating. “Back in those carefree days our ponies and horses were so tough and versatile. I played polo on my jumpers and raced (amateur) on my event horses. Eventing was always our main focus and I was lucky enough to compete in South Africa and England at the higher levels.”

Charles also began announcing at 14 and has logged many hours behind a microphone. After 12 Years of thoroughbred race calling, hosting a TV Sports Show and thousands of equestrian events later, we asked him what he loves most about his job? “Meeting and working with wonderful people, painting verbal pictures and the excitement of describing a good cross- country round.”

We are excited to have Charles as the voice of Stable View Horse Trials.
