Just like last year, it’s been hot and sticky - not ideal for your horse.

As a result, we’ve done as much as we can to keep you and your horse as comfortable as possible. Ice, water, and the misting station will all be available, and as happened last year, we’re hoping for a decent breeze. The irrigation System has been full on, and we believe that the going should be good.

As you are aware, to take account of the heat we’re starting really early, and, to the extent that we can push things along, you can be sure that we will do so.

If you have a chance to look around, we’ve just sprigged a new area of Celebration Bermuda. This is by far the best Bermuda for this sandy soil. It’s also much more comfortable to ride on and greens up earlier and goes dormant later than any other Bermuda grass.

You might have noticed that we have continued to develop our Equestrian program.

The team in the Office has grown our Dressage presence significantly over the last year, and with the recent addition of four Recognized H/J Dates, we are able to offer an increasingly diversified program.

Do come and visit us for Oktoberfest! The weather will be nicer, there’s a large amount of Prize Money on offer and we’ll be having lots of fun.

An area that you might not be familiar with is the Stable View Environmental Program.

From fledging birds to being concerned about how we use the land, over the next few years we intend to develop an Eco Tours Business. Creating an improved wild habitat is what this is about, one that’s then possible to look at and appreciate.

I started volunteering with Stable View a little over a year ago. I met a woman at a combined driving event who said she was going to fence judge the following weekend, and would I like to accompany her? It sounded like fun, and I had been looking for a way to get involved in the local equestrian scene, so I said yes. We had a great time, and the Stable View team impressed me with their organization and professionalism, so since then I’ve volunteered as often as my schedule permits. I have come to appreciate how many volunteers it takes to stage even a schooling event, let alone an FEI event, and I want to do my part.

I started riding a Tennessee Walking Horse at age 5. By age 12 I switched to hunter/jumpers, and when I went to college, I took dressage lessons, because that was what was available. I’ve never evented, though. Too fast for me!

After we both retired, my husband and I moved to Aiken in 2017. Now we have three horses that we keep at home: one that I trail ride, one retiree, and one horse that my husband drives. I also take dressage lessons just because you can never stop improving.

Lisa Anderson PRESIDENT OF GROUND JURY

Lisa Anderson has been a professional in the horse world since 1980.

She grew up in Wayne, IL fox hunting, showing hunters, jumpers, and eventers and earned her “A” rating in USPC. In 1983 Jack LeGoff, then US Olympic coach, chose Lisa to ride at team headquarters in S Hamilton, MA which later led to a 3 year assistant job working and riding with Coach LeGoff.

In 1989 Lisa was 6th leading event rider in the US. She has won 1*’s at Rolex, Essex, North GA and has placed at Radnor and Rolex 2*’s and Fair Hill 3*.

Over her career, Lisa has trained and competed over 30 horses at the preliminary level and above and has taught hundreds of students.

official Lisa is currently Head Trainer and Program Director at Chastain Horse Park in Atlanta, GA. She is a frequent judge across the country, holding USEF “R” eventing, hunter, equitation and jumper licenses.
