welcome Evening Academy entries for this February are over 160. This time last year they were 99. Whilst this is a significant increase, it’s in line with increases that we are seeing in other events that we are running here at Stable View. As we get feedback in terms of what we can do better, we’ll improve, not just with regard to how we manage these events, but where possible, experiment with some of your ideas. Graze & Gaze was an idea that developed as a compromise from what used to be known as a Competitor Party. Yes, you can still eat some food and drink some wine, but the idea of Graze & Gaze was developed out of a riders wish to be outdoors and in a less confined space. Please take this as your invitation to come along on Saturday evening, outside at the back of the Pavilion – your invitation should be in your Rider Pack. Another idea that came from a rider was the positioning of the new arena – the one you’ll be using for Stadium. It was going to go close to the existing arenas, but this wasn’t a [really] good idea – it was going to constrict Cross Country. Better to place it up by the Boyd Martin/ETB Schooling Field at Stable View, where, not only could it be linked for Integrated Three Phase Schooling, but it was also far enough away to be used in a much “quieter” environment for Community Events. Believe it or not, we are getting close to the 50th Eventing Academy. In the old days, we often had as few as 50 or 60 entries. Once, in December 2018 we had 20! Thanks to your support, we’ve come a long way and we’re going to continue to develop the EA program so that you know more about what’s going on, and you’ll be informed earlier.
