Barry’s Trails Club Welcome Letter

As the Trails year winds down, we’ve been repairing, mowing and continuing to extend the Trails.

With a lot of rain earlier this summer, there has been a lot of new growth in the way that’s been cut down. A few trunks of downed trees have also been cleared - these being leftovers from Hurricane Helene last year.

We’ve had a visit from Foothills Land Conservancy the new Conservator of the Trails area you use - they took over from South Area Land Conservancy with whom they merged last year.

We’ve also reestablished our relationship with Keith Bradley, now the South Carolina Botanist. It was Keith who first undertook an audit of Stable View’s flora in 2019. We’re hopeful that this time aroundduring his audit - he’ll identify more than seven shrubs that are either “protected” or “of interest”.

Last time he identified 270 plants and shrubs. The final piece of news from Stable View this month relates to a new area of business.

Eco Tours is now on the list of Stable View business development projects.

Accommodations, The Bistro, the Trails, Bird Fledge, Bird Migratory Paths, Unusual Shrubs…..and an additional new area, Stable View products.

Via research that’s being undertaken by our newest colleague, Emma Rogers, we’re developing a program that will grow plants, trees and shrubs that will potentially produce, Lotions, Lotions, Tinctures, Teas, Jams and Balms.

As with our Honey, these will be produced from in house materials.

As we go into the Fall, we’d like to wish you both Happy Running and Happy Holidays.

The Team @ Stable View

The OG Trailblazer -

It’s Fall Y’all: Hit the Trails Before the Leaves Clock Out

If you’ve been waiting for the perfect excuse to go for a walk or a jog on the trails, this is it. The temps are finally civilized, the mosquitoes have taken a hint, and the trails are absolutely glowing with fall color. It’s that time of the year when every jog or walk feels like you’ve stepped into a postcard with the kind of crisp air that makes you forget you ever complained about summer humidity.

The Best Loops for Leaf Peeping (and Leg Stretching)

The Blue Loop with the Gully – It’s got just enough up-and-down to keep things interesting without feeling like total punishment, in my opinion. The Gully section gives you the feeling of being lost in the mountains (but in a good way), and the mix hardwoods means plenty of color overhead.

The Orange Loop – Think of these as Fall’s playground. Whether you walk, jog, or mix it up, the single track Orange Loop weaves through some of the prettiest stretches of Stable View (and across a creek).

Fall doesn’t stick around long, and the trail system is showing off right now. Whether you’re logging miles, walking the dog, or just pretending you’re in a nature documentary, the Blue Loop with the Gully and the Orange Loop are the place to be. So grab your sneakers (or trail shoes, if you’re fancy) and hit the path — before the wind blows the leaves off the trees.

2026 ANNUAL REGISTRATION OPENS NOV. 1 HERE

Recap: Fall Aiken Trailblazer @ Stable View

The Aiken Trailblazer Races held at Stable View this past Saturday were a huge success. Over 200 runners from around the CSRA descended on Stable View, many decked out in Halloween costumes, and hit the trails on a perfect crisp October morning.

Ultra runner and member of the Aiken Trails Club, Nicole Ash, ran the 10k this year. She described this weekend as the "perfect event to get that fall vibe kickstarted and shake out the cobwebs! All the people from runners, hikers, walkers, kiddos, volunteers, staff and of course the headless horseman make the festive spirit come alive."

The race was followed up by a fun gathering at the Pavillion, with amazing food provided by Chef Chris, a post race recovery session with StretchZone, and fun prizes and finishers awards presented by Race Director Victoria Seahorn (kudos to her for organizing such a wonderful event!)

Battle of the Run Clubs Team XC Challenge

Saturday, January 24, 2026

And by run clubs, we mean Run Clubs, but we also mean run...."clubs".

You can sign up with a group of friends, with family members, and even as an individual. You do not need a complete team to enter; if for some reason your friends don't quite get organized and your team ends up a little short, we'll combine mixed teams to make sure everyone has a chance at a final score. Individuals can enter as "Free Agents," and will be combined into these mixed teams or possibly a team of their own. It's a great way to meet local runners and make new friends.

All runners will enter on Ultrasignup as individuals.
