History

Once known as the Sage Valley Quail Hunting Lodge, Stable View was purchased in 2010 and slowly transitioned into a world-class international equestrian training facility. Surrounded by rolling hills, and lush forests abundant with long-leaf pines and wildlife, the 1,000+ acres of Stable View provides an idyllic environment for equestrians, community members, and outdoor enthusiasts.

“This all came about through a fortuitous set of circumstances, with good partnerships, an open and welcoming community, and most of all, our willingness to go where the land led us.”

Olympic gold-medal winning equestrian, course designer, and columnist Mark Phillips provided pivotal advice contributing to the design of Stable View. Over the last decade, Stable View has added state-of-the-art facilities, including accommodations for over 100 guests, 7 competition arenas, 16 barns, 265 stalls, 4 rider lounges, and a LEED Gold Certified pavilion for events.

Sustainability

With 850 acres dedicated to environmental conservation, eco-consciousness is a core value of Stable View. Moreover, our sustainability practices have earned Stable View the Land Stewardship Award from the Southeast Regional Land Conservancy for caring landowners who go above and beyond to protect their land.

WILDLIFE

Stable View serves as a sanctuary for wildlife and wildlife enthusiasts alike, offering sightings of native, rare, and endangered species. Our conservation land hosts nest boxes to support fledgling populations of Bluebirds, Kestrels, and Red-Cockaded Woodpeckers, which are complemented by seasonal bird-feeding programs. Additionally, visitors and guests are free to explore and marvel at the biodiversity of this land—from monarch butterflies, to honeybees, to deer, and long-leaf pines.

CONSERVATION

Driven to reduce as much waste as possible, relevant timber felled during construction projects is re-purposed for building our crosscountry jumps; while on-site, our nursery cultivates all plant-life needed for events and shows. Alongside that, to help support the natural pollination process of the land, Stable View has established a honeybee colony.

HABITAT MANAGEMENT

Honoring the history of this land and the Indigenous Peoples who first called it home, Stable View engages with the Indigenous land-management practice of conducting prescribed burns, or “cultural burning”. This is the practices of intenationally lighting small-scale, controlled fires, in order to promote the health and wellbeing of vegetation and animals. According to the USDA Forest Service, cultural burning links back to the tribal philosophy of fire as medicine, stating “When you prescribe it, you’re getting the right dose to maintain the abundance of productivity of all ecosystem services to support the ecology in your culture”.

ECO-CONSCIOUS

To ensure a positive and effective environmental impact, Stable View receives oversight from The Longleaf Alliance. Leading the industry, the Stable View pavilion is the first ever equestrian facility to be LEED Gold Certified; a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement, demonstrating Stable View’s commitment to the environment.
