centre:mk is delighted to be the Headline Sponsor for IF:2016, championing cultural events and activities for the people of Milton Keynes and beyond.

In bringing world class events to Milton Keynes and centre:mk in particular, we seek to reinforce Milton Keynes’ role as a major destination in the UK, and centre:mk’s reputation for innovation and as the go-to place for shopping, eating out, culture and leisure.
Along with the Festival we have co-commissioned Miguel Chevalier to create Magic Carpets 2016 to transform Middleton Hall, providing a truly unique experience. Other Festival installations in centre:mk will also encourage us to pause, reflect and see our retail environment and the city in a different way.
We hope you enjoy the Festival events that we are hosting at centre:mk, and will take advantage of our retail and Destination Dining offers when visiting.
Kevin Duffy Centre Director, centre:mk

IF: Milton Keynes International Festival is back and we invite you to spend 10 amazing days doing extraordinary things in unexpected places.
Artists are joining us from all over the world to create magical moments and life-long memories. Explore Magic Carpets 2016 by Miguel Chevalier, commissioned especially for Middleton Hall in centre:mk, or take a walk with a moving sculpture as Station House Opera’s Dominoes wends its way across the cityscape. You might even find yourself on the big screen in Richard DeDomenici’s Superman IV Redux film.
Bask in the atmosphere of Festival Central at Willen Lake and enjoy the great line-up of music, comedy, circus, cabaret and family events. Then, at the end of the 10 days dance the night away with the Colour of Time and the end-of-Festival Ceilidh.
Our thanks go to Arts Council England, Milton Keynes Council and our many Corporate Partners, supporters and generous individuals who make IF possible. In particular we are grateful for the vision of centre:mk, the Festival’s first Headline Partner.
And finally a thank you - to all of the volunteers and participants this year who will be working tirelessly to support the Festival team to deliver 10 amazing days. Enjoy and have fun!

Working in a retail environment for the very first time, internationally renowned artist Miguel Chevalier is a pioneer of digital art, specialising in work for large spaces and important monumental buildings.
Special ‘sound spheres’ have been created by artist Ray Lee. ‘Explorers’ can carry a sphere that generates sound, reacts to the changes in the projections and the heat of peoples’ hands.

In centre:mk, a projected representation of Milton Keynes forms the heart of an immersive installation where audiences can watch live data collected from utilities and communications sources. Sounds respond live to the data, creating a sonic experience which changes with every visit.

Large sections of Superman IV: The Quest For Peace, starring Christopher Reeve and Gene Hackman, were filmed in Milton Keynes (which doubled as Metropolis) 30 years ago in 1986.
Artist Richard DeDomenici has pioneered a series of creative and witty recreations of sections of popular films and now brings his Redux Project to the city to take on Superman IV.
In collaboration with the good citizens of Milton Keynes, around five minutes of key scenes from the original film will be reshot, including the iconic flying scenes in front of Milton Keynes Central Station, which stood in for the United Nations building.
Celebrating Milton Keynes’ recent past, Superman IV Redux will be screened alongside the original scenes on Saturday 23 July when Richard DeDomenici will also talk about his other Redux projects.

City Centre locations: Starting at 5.30pm at The Point MK9 3NB and finishing in Midsummer Boulevard East by the Theatre District

Thousands of blocks will be used to create a two kilometre long, moving, domino-like sculpture that will run through the heart of the city centre, unfolding over the course of one extraordinary day.
Engaging, mesmerising and witty, Dominoes has been specially designed to respond to Milton Keynes’ unique city-scape, with sculptural features, highlight performances and ‘tricks’ strategically placed along the route.
Taking in shopping areas, leisure facilities, people’s homes, restaurants, bars and boulevards, the domino line will thread its way through wellknown, everyday and perhaps little-known parts of the city.
Dominoes will involve around 200 local participants, working with the Station House Opera team in the build-up to the event.
