2026 STA CHURCH Annual FINAL

Page 1

2026 ANNUAL REPORT Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I am filled with profound gratitude for the many blessings God has poured out upon our parish community throughout the past year. It is my pleasure to present this Annual Report on behalf of our Parish Fiance Council. This report is more than a summary of ministries, finances, and accomplishments—it is a testament to God's faithfulness and to the generosity, dedication, and faith of each person who calls St. Anastasia home. Together, we have witnessed our parish continue to grow with the new families joining our community, bringing renewed energy and strengthening the life of our Church. We have celebrated the great joy of welcoming new members through Baptism, accompanied our children as they received First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion, confirmed our young people with the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and gathered countless times around the altar to celebrate the Holy Eucharist. These sacred moments remind us that our parish is alive, growing, and rooted firmly in Christ. I am especially grateful for the countless volunteers, ministry leaders, staff members, school families, and parishioners whose generosity of time, talent, and treasure continues to make our mission possible. Your faithful stewardship allows us to serve those in need, form disciples, educate our children, care for our campus, and provide a welcoming spiritual home for all who enter our doors. As we look toward the coming year, we do so with great hope and excitement. Together we will continue to strengthen our ministries, welcome new families, deepen our faith, and invest in the future of our parish through thoughtful planning and faithful stewardship. God continues to bless St. Anastasia in so many ways, and I have every confidence that our brightest days are still ahead. Thank you for your continued prayers, generosity, and commitment to our parish family. May the Lord bless you and your loved ones abundantly, and may Our Lady and St. Anastasia continue to intercede for us as we joyfully carry Christ's mission forward. Yours in Christ,

Fr. Leszek Semik

THANK YOU, VOLUNTEERS

We are the Church! The celebration of the Holy Eucharist is at the heart of parish life, and our liturgical ministers play an essential role in creating a reverent, prayerful, and welcoming worship experience for all who gather at St. Anastasia. Our dedicated lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, ushers, altar servers, children’s choir , and sacristans faithfully serve at weekend and daily Masses, Holy Days, funerals, weddings, and other liturgical celebrations throughout the year. Their willingness to share their time and talents ensures that each liturgy is celebrated with dignity, reverence, and hospitality. Whether proclaiming the Word of God, assisting at the altar, welcoming parishioners, distributing Holy Communion, or working behind the scenes to prepare the church for worship, these faithful volunteers help bring our liturgies to life and foster a deeper encounter with Christ. We are deeply grateful for the commitment, generosity, and servant leadership of our liturgical ministers, whose faithful service strengthens the spiritual life of our parish and reflects the heart of our mission to worship God and serve one another.

OCIA AT ST. ANASTASIA

Welcoming New Members to Our Faith Community

OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) is an important ministry of St. Anastasia, welcoming adults who are seeking to learn more about the Catholic faith and discern their journey toward full communion with the Church. Through prayer, formation, fellowship, and the guidance of our parish community, OCIA provides a meaningful pathway for those answering the call to grow in their relationship with Christ. We welcome our newly confirmed OCIA participants who joined the Church last year! Their commitment and witness are a beautiful reminder of the importance of creating a welcoming parish where people can encounter Christ, discover the richness of our Catholic faith, and find a spiritual home. As we look to the future, the continued growth of OCIA is an important part of growing our Church. By welcoming, accompanying, and forming new Catholics, we strengthen the faith community of St. Anastasia and help ensure that the Good News of Christ continues to be shared with generations to come.

BIBLE STUDY GROUP

Men’s Club, Women’s Club, Senior Social Club

Our Senior Social Club, with more than 100 members, continues to offer meaningful opportunities for fellowship through monthly luncheons, casino trips, and other social outings that keep our senior parishioners active, engaged, and connected. The Men's Club grew to 94 members, bringing parishioners into fellowship with fun events like Happy Hours, the Annual Thanksgiving Cornhole Tournament, and March Madness Watch Party. The newly reimagined ‘Our Village’ Women's Club enjoyed a successful relaunch, welcoming 65 members during its first year. Through activities such as Happy Hours, pumpkin carving, and Paint & Sip evenings, the club has created a thriving community where women can build lasting friendships and deepen their connection to the parish. The combined membership dues and club donations from the Men's Club and Our Village Women's Club generated more than $12,000 in support of the Panther Fund, helping strengthen the school's long-term financial sustainability while demonstrating their shared commitment to the future of St. Anastasia Catholic School.

Salvation: New Life in Christ/Ephesians: Discover Your Inheritance

St. Anastasia's Adult Bible Study continues to be a cornerstone of faith formation, offering parishioners the opportunity to study Sacred Scripture in a welcoming small-group setting. Since its founding in 2008, the program has helped participants deepen their faith, strengthen their relationship with Christ, enrich their prayer lives, and build lasting friendships. This past year, participants explored the Augustine Institute's Salvation: New Life in Christ, followed by Ascension Press's Ephesians: Discover Your Inheritance, with an additional teaching by Dr. Brant Pitre that provided deeper insight into one of St. Paul's most discussed passages. The program welcomed 70 registered participants, attending weekly morning or evening sessions featuring prayer, engaging video presentations, discussion, and fellowship. Seasonal celebrations, including Christmas and Mardi Gras gatherings, further strengthened the sense of community. The year concluded with a celebration of gratitude and excitement for the upcoming study year. We are grateful to the dedicated volunteers and participants whose commitment continues to make Bible Study one of St. Anastasia's most vibrant and enduring adult faith formation ministries. We look forward to welcoming back our Bible Study group with sign-ups in September and sessions beginning in October. All are welcome to participate!

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

CONFIRMATION

In May, 39 children received their First Holy Communion, surrounded by family and our parish community. The children marked this spiritual milestone with their families with deep respect and prayer, in celebration of their special day.

We celebrated Confirmation at St. Anastasia with Regional Bishop Matthew Elshoff, who confirmed 25 young adults during the Mass. Families came together in support, and the Bishop's inspiring message highlighted the significance of faith and community.

MSGR VADAKIN ARTS & EDUCATION FUND The Msgr. Royale M. Vadakin Arts & Education Fund was established in the fall of 2001 under his leadership. Today, the Fund continues serve as a lasting legacy in Mgsr. Vadakin’s name, fulfilling its mission by investing in opportunities that inspire creativity, strengthen faith, and foster leadership throughout our parish community. This year, the Fund received more than $2,800 in charitable contributions. Combined with earnings from the Investment Pool, the Board of Trustees approved $16,030 in grants to support a wide range of parish and school initiatives, including Bible Study, TACSC Student Leadership Conferences, Lenten Mission Speaker Series, School Musical set design and production supplies and Washington, D.C. Trip scholarships for students. Whether supporting a student's educational experience, enriching our liturgical and artistic ministries, or offering opportunities for adult faith formation, the Arts & Education Fund continues to reflect Msgr. Vadakin's vision of cultivating a vibrant, faith-filled parish community through education and the arts. We are grateful to the many donors whose generosity ensures that this legacy continues to enrich the lives of present and future generations at St. Anastasia Parish. The Msgr. Vadakin Arts and Education Fund is a restricted fund, guided by the appointed Board of Trustees and managed at the discretion of the Pastor.

MSGR. GONZALES SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Honoring Msgr. Gabe Gonzales' Legacy

Msgr. Gabe Gonzales was deeply passionate about Catholic education and had a genuine heart for families in need. Throughout his ministry, he often expressed concern about the rising cost of Catholic education and the financial challenges it created for many families. In honor of his legacy of service, compassion, and unwavering commitment to making a quality Catholic education accessible to all, St. Anastasia Parish established the Msgr. Gabe Gonzales Scholarship Fund. This year, the Scholarship Fund raised more than $7,700 through the generosity of our parish community, including a special collection held in February in celebration of Msgr. Gonzales's birthday. More than 90 gifts were received throughout the year, reflecting the continued generosity of parishioners who believe in investing in the future of Catholic education. Thanks to this support, the Fund provided $7,500 in tuition assistance to St. Anastasia School families experiencing financial need, helping ensure that students could continue receiving a faith-filled Catholic education. The Fund also awarded scholarships to graduating eighthgrade students pursuing their education at Catholic high schools. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to this year's scholarship recipients, Henry G. and Ellyssa M. We pray that God continues to bless them as they grow in faith, knowledge, and service, and that they carry forward the values of Catholic education inspired by the enduring legacy of Msgr. Gabe Gonzales. The Msgr. Gonzales Fund is a restricted fund dedicated exclusively to providing tuition assistance and annual scholarships for St. Anastasia students pursuing a Catholic education. Awards are recommended by the appointed Scholarship Committee and administered at the discretion of the Pastor

BUILDING FUND Building a Stronger St. Anastasia

The St. Anastasia Building Fund is a restricted fund dedicated to preserving, maintaining, and improving our parish facilities for current and future generations. Every gift made to the Building Fund directly supports the ongoing care of our campus, ensuring that our church and parish buildings remain safe, welcoming, and well maintained for worship, ministry, and community life. This year, the Building Fund received more than 185 gifts, raising over $60,000 in support of our parish facilities. These generous contributions provide essential resources for building maintenance, capital improvements, renovations, and unforeseen emergency repairs, allowing the parish to respond promptly to facility needs as they arise. One of the projects completed this year was the renovation of the Sacristy, including new flooring and fresh paint, enhancing both the beauty and functionality of this important space serving our liturgical ministries. With few major expenditures from the Building Fund this year, the parish was able to preserve much of the Fund’s principal while allowing it to continue growing through investment earnings. This strengthens the Fund’s long-term ability to address future maintenance, capital improvements, and unexpected repairs. Because the Building Fund is 100% restricted, every dollar donated is used exclusively for St. Anastasia’s facilities and infrastructure. We are deeply grateful for the generosity of our parish community and for your continued commitment to preserving our sacred spaces for generations to come.

CALLED TO RENEW

Campaign for Parish Renewal across Los Angeles Called to Renew is a historic, five-year campaign to strengthen parishes, families, and communities through unity and action. Together, we are committed to renewing what is important so we can pass it on to those we love. St. Anastasia is proud to participate alongside parishes, missions, and Catholic centers throughout the Archdiocese as we work together to strengthen and renew our Church for the future. This fiscal year, St. Anastasia received more than $63,000 in Called to Renew funds. Combined with funds received in previous years, this support helped make possible the electrical upgrade and HVAC installation for the school building, a significant investment in the comfort, safety, and longterm sustainability of our school. The school HVAC project was completed in August 2025. To date, more than $600,000 in Called to Renew funding has been received by St. Anastasia, providing vital resources for improvements to our church and school facilities. These investments are helping us care for the larger Church in Los Angeles and the campus we have been entrusted with preparing to serve our communities for generations to come.

Called to Renew Support for St. Anastasia

OUR GOAL $1,245,000

We are deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed to Called to Renew and helped make these improvements possible. Your generosity is truly helping us renew, strengthen, and build for the future of St. Anastasia.

TOGETHER IN MISSION

Supporting our Parishes and Schools Together in Mission is an annual appeal conducted by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, California. It is not your typical annual appeal — it is a collaborative effort that brings together the Catholic community, encouraging one another to sustain vital ministries and services in underprivileged parishes and schools — all in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ. For 30 years, Together in Mission has been led by dedicated clergy, administrators, and lay leaders. It was established in response to the growing needs of local parishes and schools, especially in economically disadvantaged areas. Recognizing that some communities faced financial challenges that hindered their ability to carry out essential ministries and education programs, the Archdiocese initiated the Together in Mission campaign to foster unity and shared responsibility among the faithful so that struggling faith communities throughout our five regions have flourished.

Parish Goal: $81,275 Amount Pledged: $40,500 Amount Paid: $38,395

The Impact of Together In Mission $370+ million raised since the campaign’s inception. Supported 62+ parishes and 79 schools serving economically disadvantaged communities. Provided tuition assistance to thousands of students, expanding access to quality Catholic education. Helped maintain and renovate parish facilities, creating safe and welcoming spaces for worship and community. Supported outreach programs providing food, shelter, and essential services to families in need. Fostered spiritual growth and a sense of belonging, strengthening individuals, families, and parish communities. Brought together diverse Catholic communities, building connection and strengthening local neighborhoods. Invested in disadvantaged communities, supporting schools, parishes, infrastructure, and local economic growth.

ST. MARGARET’S CENTER

Supporting Catholic Charities of Los Angeles

Since 1987. St. Margaret’s Center, a program of Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, has provided free emergency and supportive services to thousands of people each year regardless of race, national orgin or religious affiliation. Thank you for your generosity and for helping St. Margaret’s Center continue creating hope in our community! We extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who donated to St. Margaret’s Center in Lennox this past fiscal year. Together we contributed $7,386 in financial support through our monthly collections. Our parish and shool also support this local center with our annual Turkey Drive, Adopt a Family, Easter Basket, and Christmas Angels Toy Drive, and Parishioner Volunteers.

ST. ROBERT’S CENTER

Supporting Catholic Charities of Los Angeles

Every six weeks, St. Anastasia Catholic Church comes together in faith and fellowship to serve at St. Robert’s Center in Venice. Parishioners volunteer their time to welcome and assist those in need by preparing and distributing sandwiches, lunches, coffee, breakfast items, groceries, and clothing. Beyond providing essential resources, this ministry offers warmth, dignity, encouragement, and a sense of community to each person we serve. Through this ongoing outreach, St. Anastasia lives out the Gospel call to care for our neighbors and recognize the presence of Christ in every person. We are grateful to all the parishioners who generously give their time and hearts to this ministry continuing our mission of serving others with love, dignity, and generosity.

MASTER PLAN UPDATES PRESCHOOL PLAN UPDATES

From Vision to Reality

As we continue with our Master Planning process, we are excited to announce our partnership with Shea Family Charities to construction in early 2027 (currently in city planning for permitting), with a goal to open Early 2028! The new building will feature a dedicated early-learning center for children ages 2.5-4 years old including: - 2 classrooms - Dedicated outdoor play spaces - Secure entry/exits - Dedicated staff office space - Dedicated restrooms for both staff and children Funding for this project has been secured in thanks to Shea Family Charities!

A NEW PANTHER PLAY SPACE We’re excited to bring a brand-new, expanded playground to St. Anastasia! As our school continues to grow, we saw an opportunity to create a larger, more welcoming play space designed for children ages 2–12 to learn, play, explore, and build friendships. After years of wear and tear, tree roots had caused significant damage to the existing play area, creating uneven surfaces and tripping hazards. With safety and the needs of our students in mind, we made the decision to reimagine the entire space and moving it to allow for an expanded play area. Funding for this exciting project will be provided through proceeds from our Jog-a-Thon, making this a wonderful example of our community coming together to invest in our students. We look forward to having the new playspace installed by the end of 2026, creating a safe, engaging environment where our youngest Panthers through our middle school students can play, explore, and make memories for years to come!

LOOKING AHEAD: PHASE 2 OF THE MASTER PLAN As we move closer to construction of our new preschool, we are turning our sights toward Phase 2 of the St. Anastasia Master Plan. This exciting next chapter will include the Parish Life Center (a brand-new multipurpose auditorium/gymnasium), a new athletic field, expanded parking, and important safety and traffic improvements across the campus. Phase 2 represents a significant financial undertaking, but these projects have been identified as top priorities by our parish and school community. They will provide valuable spaces for our students, families, parishioners, and programs while enhancing the overall experience and safety of our campus. We look forward to sharing more details about this exciting next phase and the vision for the future of St. Anastasia in the months ahead!
