Chapel. • Kids get lockers for the first time when they’re in 3rd grade. And it’s a big deal. Third graders love to decorate their lockers. The enthusiasm for locker-decorating fades pretty quickly as they get older. • In-class parent volunteer opportunities are returning this year. Make sure to take advantage of them! At Back-to-School Night, your child’s class Room Rep will explain what opportunities are available and how to sign up for them. • Getting involved and going to school functions can seem daunting when you’re new to SMES.
Try to do as much and attend as many events as you can, though. The more connected you feel to SMES, the better your experience – and your child’s experience – will be. • If you’re not sure about something, don’t be afraid to ask! Don’t know who to ask? You can always reach out to your PTO Presidents. We may not know the answer, but we can probably put you in touch with someone who does.
