MAY 26, 2013

The following is a list of events occuring today at St. Luke’s. For other events and upcoming information, pick up a COMMUNION MONTHLY, available at the end of the pews and at the Information Desk in the Narthex.

Oklahoma Tornado Disaster Relief If you wish to help with the relief efforts in Moore, OK, please place your donation in the offering plate (checks made payable to St. Luke’s with “Oklahoma Tornado Relief” on the memo line, or cash donations in an offering envelope with same memo). Please keep this community in your prayers during their long journey of recovery and healing.

May Outreach of the Month The Rosebud, SD Native American Family Work Project is our Outreach of the Month. St. Luke’s has traveled to Rosebud for many years, where teams have worked with the Lakota people through a variety of experiences. This year’s trip takes place June 23-29. For more info, contact Jamalyn Peigh Williamson at williamsonj@stlukesumc.com. Your financial contributions will support Tree of Life, which helps with school kits, winter coats, warm blankets and other critical needs of Rosebud. You may make a donation and place it in the offering basket (payable to St. Luke’s with “Rosebud” on the memo line) or on our website.

“Reel Injun” Documentary In conjunction with our Outreach of the Month project, Rosebud, SD Native American Reservation, you are invited to watch and discuss the film “Reel Injun” today at 4:30PM in E105. Rev. Dr. Susan Jennys, an anthropologist as well as a United Methodist lay pastor, will lead Q&A on this film, which shows how Hollywood has depicted Native Americans over the years, thus contributing to stereotypes.
