AUGUST 2013
MONTHLY
COMMUNION Church Appreciation Sunday On Sunday August 11 from 8AM-1PM, the youth will be sponsoring an event in the Great Hall to give back to the congregation for all their support the past year. Youth will be in the East and West Passages and the Narthex sharing coffee and coffee cake with all who would like to join in the celebration as they show their appreciation for a year filled with blessings!
Back-to-School Extravaganza On Sunday, August 4, St. Luke’s will hold a Back-to-School Extravaganza for nearly 2000 children who are in need of assistance to get their school year started off right. Your donations and contributions the past two months have made this assistance possible—thank you!! We are still in need of volunteers to help with this event. If you are interested, go to www.stlukesumc.com/outreach to find more information and a sign-up form. Questions? Contact Julie Fuquay at fuquayj@stlukesumc.com.
Servant Day: SATURDAY, AUGUST 3 It’s not too late to sign up and join your St. Luke’s family in working together in the community. There are 8,760 hours in a year. This is an opportunity to spend just four of those hours in service to others, sharing God’s love while making new friends. The day will begin with breakfast in the Great Hall, followed by prayer and a rousing send-off, after which teams will be dispersed throughout Pike and Washington Townships. There will be service projects in and around St. Luke’s, at schools and daycare centers, and other community agencies. All ages and abilities are encouraged to participate. There is something for everyone! SIGN UP at www.stlukesumc.com. Friends and family who are not members of St. Luke’s are welcome to participate in this annual community event. ••• See page 7 for information on a Servant Day e-cycling event.
