Dear Catholic Jayhawks:

Another vintage year is in the books! Our mission to KU was able to launch graduates into the world capable of the greatest vocations! Our dear world, and the realm of higher education, continue to change at a dizzying speed. What is consistent is our faith’s ability to guide and form the human experience and direct it toward the fullness of life offered in Christ Jesus in communion with his Catholic Church. I am so grateful for the students who continue to trust us to integrate their Catholic faith during their time on the Hill. Your support and prayers make our dear alma mater the best place to bear fruit that will last! I am also so happy to say that our evangelization strategy was able to engage 1,500 KU students by name this year, which fulfilled our goal to make significant progress in our ability to reach new and different kinds of students. Our mission touched countless more, but we are pleased to be able to present more and more tangible evidence of the stories guided by the St. Lawrence Center!

Onward and upward into a crazy world, with the confidence born of faith that Catholic Jayhawks will continue to fly far above!

Her deepest desire is to send out full and free disciples of Jesus Christ capable of the greatest stories.

Seniors share their last dinner together at the rectory before graduation to celebrate their accomplishments, where they have grown and where they are going after they leave KU.

Mikala Liley, Junior, invites other students into her home for a morning breakfast bible study so she can pour into others the way she was poured into.

Students attend Open Mic Night where authentic trust, play, and vulnerability are key pieces of our student culture. We want to provide an atmosphere of rest and relief to ANYONE who walks through our doors.

AVI sisters lead students through Samuel Group where they learn how to know themselves, know God, and know their role in the church and the world.

A student exhibits courage in their actions and makes decisions that might not always be comfortable. They dare to stand out amidst the crowd.

VULNERABILITY

Unafraid to be themselves and to share the reality of their lives with others, including God. Students are able to be formed and led by a guide. Life is lived from the inside out and masks are shed.

COMMITMENT

Submission to a plan, rhythm, or way of life - they exhibit fortitude and perseverance when things get difficult or messy and seek to grow in virtue.

They are able to engage in relationships outside of themselves. They participate in the Mass and love the Catholic church, which is why tradition and obedience are embraced as gifts.

SELF-GIFT

Students are contributing/serving in the life of the Church, giving their time and resources towards a larger good and willing to sacrifice their needs and wants for the sake of the world around them.

CONTAGIOSITY

Students’ way of life draws others to themselves and has an infectious, apostolic quality about it. Those who come in contact with someone living a great story come to know Jesus because of the contagious spirit that has been cultivated in them.
