SEE the TRIUMPH Quadon McCullough, Director of Program Operations for the Villa’s Sarah Dooley Center for Autism, presents Harrison with his high school diploma.

Since the Villa’s beginnings nearly two centuries ago, our mission to lift up the most vulnerable and marginalized members of our community has been fueled by hope. Today, we relentlessly channel that hope to meet critical needs in mental health care, housing, education, and autism services which we have seen compounded by the pandemic. Working alongside supporters like you inspires us every day to rise to the challenge. We never stop believing good things can and will happen when we come together and reimagine what is possible.

In September 2021, we proudly unveiled our new Sarah Dooley Center for Autism. When students walked through the doors, they experienced the culmination of 10 years of planning, two years of construction, and a community investment of $9.5 million. Customized with input from our families, public school partners, and direct care staff, the Center is positioned to impact thousands of lives across Virginia while serving as a groundbreaking shared resource that contributes to key advancements in autism research and education.

While Virginia faces a shortage of affordable housing, our Flagler Housing & Homeless Services team served 644 individuals in the past year – an increase of 280 from the previous year. We are now leading the Crater Region’s Youth Homelessness Demonstration Project, the first program of its kind in the state, supported by a $1.5 million grant. Flagler facilitates a Youth Action Board where we can listen and learn from youth with lived experience, and together create a blueprint for ending youth homelessness.

Now more than ever, the need for accessible mental and behavioral health services by skilled professionals is incredibly urgent. We were honored to renew our partnership with the Richmond Behavioral Health Authority to provide the region’s only Crisis Stabilization Unit, a short-term residential program for youth in mental health crisis. Since we first opened the Crisis Stabilization Unit in 2012, we have served more than 1,700 youth, and their families, while diverting nearly 90% from hospitalization.

The Villa is a place where children and families can find hope 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Because of your generosity, we are able to provide food, clothing, and best-practice compassionate services to support them on their journey to stability, and success.

Our doors are always open for you to visit, and see the hope you inspire each day. Thank you for supporting the Villa.

Sincerely,

SEE the HOPE

A gift through your will is a meaningful way to support the Villa while preserving resources for your needs today. It can be as simple as leaving a specific amount, percentage or residual of your estate to the Villa through your will or a codicil; or naming the Villa as a beneficiary of your IRA, retirement plan, life insurance policy, or financial account.

If you have included St. Joseph’s Villa in your estate plans, or would like to learn more about how your planned gift can make the greatest impact, please contact P.J. Shaver, CFRE at 804-553-3220, pshaver@sjvmail.net, or visit sjvarchwaysociety.org

Plan now to invest in the future of the Villa!

SEE the GROWTH Xavier tends to vegetable seeds in the Villa Garden, which he will harvest after a season of patience and care.

VOLUNTEERS It's been a long time since I've been back to the Villa. It's a special memory for me. As a kid, my mom and I would spend every Saturday at the Villa Flea Market. I loved it because it had the best comic book and trading card vendors. After a couple of hours we’d have a snack on the lawn then go visit my uncle for lunch. The Villa was my happy place." – Quincy,
Energy volunteer
SEE the IMPACT Allianz Partners was our first volunteer group to return to campus since the start of the pandemic. They spent two days preparing our Villa Garden for spring planting, and awarded a generous grant to support the garden and
nutritional programming.
The Richmond City Sheriff’s Office joined our annual Villa Block Party, hosted by the Career & Transition Services team to celebrate a successful school year. Officers brought games, prizes, and lunches for all clients on campus.
