Marist Brothers

United States Province Center

Dear Members of the St. Joseph Academy Administration, Faculty, and Staff,

We write to you today on behalf of our Marist Brothers USA Province and the St. Joseph Academy School Board to share with you the news that Mr. Michael Motyl will be concluding his term as President on June 30, 2024. Mr. Motyl and his family will be moving to New York as he begins a new job on July 1st as the new President of the Christo Ray school in Brooklyn, NY. I hope you share in our incredible gratitude to Mr. Motyl for the outstanding leadership and dedication he has provided to the St. Joseph Academy Community over these past nine years.

During his tenure as president, Mr. Motyl has greatly advanced the mission of the Marist Brothers to provide quality Catholic Marist education to all students who attend St. Joseph Academy. In particular, he has increased the number of scholarships available to assist the many economically challenged families who depend on St. Joseph Academy for the education of their sons and daughters. Furthermore, he has greatly advanced the future of St. Joseph academy by working closely with many of the St. Joe’ s committed alumni to substantially upgrade the school’ s campus and infrastructure as well as increase the school’s endowment. Furthermore, his leadership during the COVID year was critical to the entire St. Joe’s community. We are truly indebted to Mr. Motyl for his outstanding leadership which he will continue to provide until his finishes his tenure in June.

The Marist Brothers along with the St. Joseph Academy School Board are working closely together as we begin the process of determining the best candidate who will become the next St. Joseph Academy President. An announcement of that process and the needed Search Committee will be forthcoming in the near future..

We are grateful to each of you for your continued dedicated work, your love and support of St. Joseph Academy. You are truly the ones who ensure that each student entrusted to our care receives an outstanding education as well as many opportunities to grow in his/her faith. We wish you every blessing as this current school year enters its final months, and recall the words of St. Marcellin Champagnat who said, “To educate young people you must love them, and love them all equally.”

Sincerely,

Br. Dan O’Riordan
