St Luke’s Hospice needs your help! The St Luke’s Hospice Midnight Walk is taking place on Saturday 21 July and 3,500 ladies will walk 7, 13 or 30 miles around Plymouth, in aid of this local charity. The Hospice is looking for volunteers to act as route marshals at various points along the route to help cheer, direct and keep the walkers safe on their journey! If you haven’t volunteered before, this is a great way to get involved and meet new people, have fun and help the Hospice raise vital funds. There are also some great prizes to be won if you take part in volunteering... including a ride in a hot air balloon and the chance to win £100 worth of House of Frazer vouchers! CHICKS Come along to this session run by volunteer Keith Fordham to find out more about the national charity CHICKS, which provides free respite breaks for disadvantaged children from across the UK. The children that the charity support come from a variety of backgrounds - those living in poverty, children that are abused, either mentally, physically or sexually, children who have lost parents or even children who are full-time carers. Keith will explain how you can get involved with CHICKS through volunteering at a local camp and will share with you his involvement in this fantastic charity. TimeBank Come along and hear from Michelle Virgo about this innovative, nationally run project, which aims to support the sharing of resources across communities. Participants deposit their time by giving practical help and support to others, so if you have a special skill or talent or you have time to mentor, coach or just give your time to support activities this session is for you. Helping you to get that job… How to start looking for that job Stem Appointments offer recruitment solutions to a range of industry sectors across Devon and Cornwall. This session with recruitment and HR expert Joanna Thomson, Director of Stem Appointments will introduce you to ways in which to start looking for that job, write your CV and provide you with hints and tips for the interview. Some of the speakers may have run their own businesses and others have many years of knowledge to pass on to you. Working in…Games Development Nick Palfrey, Managing Director of Real Visual, will be visiting the College to deliver a presentation, which focuses on the routes available for students to get into the game creation industry. He will discuss how the team at Real Visual manage their various projects and will highlight the most important things he has learned since being in the creative industry.
