A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTORS

Shelley Shearer School of Dance has been a leading and influential dance school in the Winnipeg community for many years! As we enter our 39th season we attribute the success of the school to our incredible staff who not only create a professional environment for our students but who deeply and genuinely care about each and every dancer that enters the school.

Our dance program is constantly growing and developing and this year we’re excited to introduce our new Creative Arts Academy for dancers ages 2-5! Whether you are new to dance or looking for a more competitive program we have the right program for you. We strive to ensure every dancer feels a part of the Shelley Shearer community by making sure our dancers are nurtured, valued, encouraged and challenged.

We are incredibly grateful to be the recipient of the Consumer Choice Award for 2024 for best dance school in Winnipeg. As we look ahead to a new season of dance, we are delighted to be able to continue the long standing tradition of excellence in dance in Winnipeg. We look forward to sharing our passion for dance with our students.

CREATIVE ARTS ACADEMY

PRESCHOOL AGES 2-5

SHELLEY SHEARER SCHOOL OF DANCE IS OFFERING A NEW PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN AGES 2-5 YEARS!

The Creative Arts Academy is offered 2 days a week during the mornings from 9:15am - 11:45am. Children will participate in dance, kids yoga while enjoying music, art and drama lessons!

This program is designed as a fun and active program that allows children to develop social and cognitive awareness; fine motor skills; and enjoy the creative arts at a young age.

This is not a parent class so drop off your child or feel free to stay and watch through our viewing windows.

Our teachers are trained in child development and will work into easing your child into the class so they can enjoy all of the activities.

Shelley Shearer School of Dance is pleased to offer 1 or 2 Days a week class options!

DRESS CODE

Our dress code is gender neutral and dancers can choose which option is most comfortable for them. Dancewear must be form fitted and allow instructors to properly see alignment to prevent injuries and incorrect habits.

PRESCHOOL

Long sleeve pink bodysuit, pink or skin-tone tights with feet OR solid black or white fitted t-shirt with black shorts or athletic pants. Pink/skin tone/black ballet slippers. Skirts are not permitted. Prep Steps will require Tap shoes in January (more information will be sent before the Winter Break).

BALLET

Black sleeveless leotard and pink/skin-tone tights OR white crew neck dance t-shirt and black opaque tights. Pink, Skin-Tone, Black split sole ballet slippers (Pink/skin-tone will be used for all performances).

TAP

Black sleeveless leotard, black tights with feet (optional fitted dance shorts or leggings) OR solid black or white fitted t-shirt with black shorts or athletic pants. Black oxford style shoe (patent shoe optional for Level 1Tap/Jazz).

JAZZ/MUSICAL THEATRE

Black sleeveless leotard, black tights with feet (optional fitted dance shorts) OR solid black or white fitted t-shirt with black shorts or athletic pants. Black split sole jazz shoe. Invitational classes may require skin tone tights / jazz shoes for competition.

LYRICAL/CONTEMPORARY

Black sleeveless leotard, black footless tights/fitted leggings OR solid black or white fitted t-shirt with black shorts or athletic pants. May wear split sole jazz shoes, bare feet or foot undies.

HIP HOP

Street clothes that allow free movement, no jeans permitted. CLEAN indoor running shoes/sneakers.

ACRO

Black sleeveless leotard, black footless tights/fitted leggings OR solid black or white fitted t-shirt with black shorts or athletic pants. No shoes.

HAIR

Long hair must be tied back (bun required for Ballet and Jazz).

FEE SCHEDULE

2024 - 2025

Fees for the season from September 9th, 2024 to June 2025 are divided in four equal payments. The registration fee of $25.00 plus GST is added to the first payment

We accept VISA and MasterCard with Pre-Authorized Automatic/Recurring Payment Plan at registration.

Your credit card will be charged the first payment when you register. At registration you will give us authorization to process the remaining payments on October 1st, January 1st, and March 1st.
