We have a great mix of features in store for you this July. For instance, pained by the suicide of Bollywood starlet Jiah Khan we tried to analyse why celebrities are driven to such extreme steps. The culprit seems to be the very nature of their profession! Being a celebrity requires one to lead a high-pressure,

one’s entire career is built on people’s perception of entertainment at that point in time. Like Sundar C has said in his interview in this edition, ‘Every Friday a superstar is born and every Friday a superstar fades away.’ Stressful, indeed. grateful and thankful to everyone who has been a part of this journey. I started with Tamil and Telugu, both being languages that I didn’t know at all. I learned them and am now working in Hindi, which is actually a walk in the park for me. I was totally at ease while working on my debut Hindi venture, because my South Indian movies had taught me a lot already. Fresh off the racks with Chashme Baddoor! Tell us what it’s like in the aftermath of your You suddenly get noticed amongst bigwigs who you have grown up seeing and admiring. You get noticed and recognised amongst your people up north too who’ve never seen you on the big screen before this. And the icing on the cake is that they are proud of the fact that I debuted the way I did. Each and everyone loved the movie and that makes me breathe a sigh of relief.

So many! But the biggest compliment was from an eight-year-old girl who saw the movie and told her mom that she wants to become like me, the character I was in the movie. I can never forget this compliment, coming as it did from a small kid.

In fact I am looking forward to hearing scripts where directors want more than one heroine as long as we are given equal importance and drive the movie together.
