ROOF CONSULTING ELIZABETH CATLETT RESIDENCE HALL

IOWA CITY, IA The 12-story, $95 million Elizabeth Catlett Residence Hall on the University of Iowa campus opened to students for the 2017-18 academic year. The building has room for over 1,000 students and includes dining, study rooms, lobby/lounge, and laundry. The project achieved LEED GoldÂŽ certification.

ROOFING SYSTEMS EPDM membrane, polyisocyanurate insulation, cover board, vapor barrier, expansion joints, and metal panels.

ROOFING QUALITY ASSURANCE OBSERVATIONS SSRCx performed multiple roofing specific, full-time quality assurance site visits documenting all roofing activities during each day. Issues were immediately communicated to the roofing subcontractor for correction or further review prior to concealment.

ROOF DAMAGE SURVEY SSRCx performed a damage survey one business day after a request to review potential storm damage. The survey included an infrared scan, test cut observations, and moisture probe readings. Results and recommendations from our roof consultants allowed the project team to proceed with confidence utilizing the clear documentation of conditions.

BUILDING ENCLOSURE COMMISSIONING (BECX) SSRCx performed documentation of the owner’s project requirements, design peer reviews of the architectural drawings and specifications, BECx coordination meetings, shop drawing and submittal reviews, development of the BECx and functional performance test requirements specification sections, BECx plan development, mock-up/field functional performance testing, and on-site construction observations.

CITIZENS PLAZA OFFICE BUILDING

NASHVILLE, TN After a series of severe thunderstorms damaged the existing roof system to the Citizens Plaza office building, SSRCx immediately conducted a damage assessment on short notice. The findings included several large portions of roof membrane separated from the underlying components. There were several large wrinkles parallel to the parapet wall indicating uplift forces moving inward to the field of the roof system from the outer edge. SSRCx was next contracted to implement the repairs identified in the report. The scope of work included developing a set of bridging design documents that included detailed scope of work, a project manual including technical specifications for the components to be repaired, and a set of drawings indicating the extent of the roofing to be repaired and pertinent details for the repairs. The roofing repair project involved the recovery of approximately 18,150 SF of damaged roofing. The recovery system is composed of overlayment insulation, a cover board, and installation of a 60 mil, reinforced, EPDM membrane.
