ST. EDMOND CATHOLIC SCHOOL | DECEMBER 2021 | VOLUME 1
WHERE VALUES AND ACADEMICS MEET
BY MRS. MARY GIBB
While I have been blessed to be the President of St. Edmond Catholic School for approximately nine years, I can characterize my time here as wellspent and engaged with both the St. Edmond community and its primary ministerial partner that being Holy Trinity Parish. After undergoing a new 3-year strategic plan, “Woven as One”, I’m happy to report our partnership has While I cherish the gift of St. Edmond, I am reminded each day that the primary focus grown, to include The Marian Home. of our collective endeavor is the salvation When we speak of “Sharing the Spirit” of our students’ souls. We strive to form there is no better example than that of the students’ mind, body and soul through the unique and vital relationship that academics, athletics, arts and activities. exists among these three dynamic and This is the foundation for all our teachings faith-filled organizations. From this with the ultimate goal being HEAVEN. With process a new mission statement was a strong parent partnership and solid created for the school. It is as follows… Catholic education, this can be achieved.
As our students prepare for the celebration of the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, their energy level intensifies. I’m so impressed with their countless efforts of Christian outreach to those in need, it reminds me that the Christian formation of our children goes well beyond the “core educational curriculum,” which must be kept in focus. On behalf of the faculty, staff and administration, I would like to say thank you for your ongoing support spiritually and financially of St. Edmond Catholic School. May God bless you during these days of remembrance. Merry Christmas!

The Saint Edmond Seniors are working hard to learn and demonstrate the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy. This new class was added this year for Seniors to get them involved in helping others in our community. Mrs. Marva Dillon is the instructor of the class. Through this class, Marva hopes that the students will realize that people need help and that is why we are here. She says, "We can always find someone worse off than we are and help them out." Twice a week, the students in the class, leave campus to help out at places like the Beacon of Hope, the Marian Home, the Holy Trinity Food Pantry, and the Lord's Cupboard. The students like the fact that they are out walking like Jesus instead of just sitting in class learning about service. As a culminating project, each senior had to create a project to give back or help out in the community. Some of the ideas they participated in were Spiritual Survival Kits for the Hospice House, making Christmas cards and activity sheets for patients in the hospital, wrapping presents for the Parish Jesse Tree, clothing drives, making cookies for the Firefighters, collecting toiletries for the YWCA, and a Foster Care suitcase drive. It is great to see the students become aware of the many needs we have in our community and to learn to live out their Christian duty of Discipleship.
SCIENCE ROOMS RENOVATION
The Science rooms at St. Edmond have recently been renovated. The rooms received new flooring, lighting, work stations, seating, instructor desks, and mobile screens. The 42 STRONG memorial for Alli Huss donated $15,000 for the improvements. Over $12,000 was raised from the last two St. Edmond Balls to help with costs. Cargill, Baker Electric, and Ball Plumbing also donated funds or services. The fume hood and the mobile screens were purchased through CARES and Eans Funds. The Class of 1970 has just made a donation to buy an air track and air source for the Physics lab and a donation to purchase plants in the courtyard for the Botany class. There were some other restricted gifts that were given to keep the cost at a minimal for the school. The project was a much needed improvement and we are so thankful to all who generously gave to help to accomplish these renovations!
Amazing!

PARTNERS IN EDUCATION RECEPTION The 23rd Annual Partners in Education Reception was held at Saint Edmond on October 30, 2021. Around 100 guests showed up to celebrate our recipients. This year, the event began with recognizing our Faculty and Staff for their years of service. It was wonderful to be able to thank them for their dedication to the school and church. We then presented the Spirit of Saint Edmond Awards to a number of outstanding individuals for the impact that they have had on our school and parish community. We were honored to recognize them for their part in making our school system great. The honorees shared wonderful stories that left everyone in awe. After the presentation, guests were invited to stay for a cocktail reception provided by Olde Bostons. We are thankful for all that our supporters do for St. Edmond. Our school thrives on the volunteerism of so many! Although we only recognize a few each year, we want to extend our gratitude to all who give their time and energy to St. Edmond Catholic School.

CLASS REUNIONS | MAKE A DIFFERENCE
CLASS OF 2011 DONATES LITTLE LIBRARY The Class of 2011 held their 10 year class reunion in November. As a class, they decided to donate a Little Free Lending Library to the school in memory of their classmate Emily Joy Averill. The classmates gathered together with Msgr. McCoy to bless the library and all those who share books from it. The library is decorated with the Joymobile, which Emily's mom started in her memory to bring the joy of reading to our community.
