We All Have One Thing In Common

Grief of a loved one who proudly served.

Memorial Day is personal to Laura Stein, Co-Activity Director for the Marian Home. Laura lost her son in 2012 at the age of 25. Which is why every Memorial Day is important to Laura and her family However, this year Laura wanted to help the Marian Home residents honor their family members who had served as well and that is when her vision began to take shape She then thought it would be nice to include staff who had loved ones who also served. Realizing the one thing they all have in common is grief, but also in pride that their loved one served this country proudly What a wonderful way to get everyone involved and honor the men and women who have sacrificed for our freedoms

As they began to work on this a month ago, it dawned on Laura they have the ability to go to the cemetery everyday and visit their loved ones, but residents are not as fortunate. So her team decided to bring the Memorial to them. With the Memorial Day Tribute set up in the front lobby, they are able to come and pay their respects throughout the upcoming holiday weekend This truly was a labor of love for Laura and her team
