TRACY TROTTER September already? Where does the time go? I want to update you on a few things. When you visit you will encounter some construction type zones in the upcoming months. Covid took a toll on our carpets in the 200, 300 and 500 hallways. We will be replace the hallway carpets over the next 6 months or so.

The second week in September we will start with replacement of the 200 hallway carpet.

This should take about a week to complete. We have a plan to replace the carpet with little interruption to resident life. We appreciate all the support you give us as we strive to make the Marian Home the best it can be.

There will be an Influenza shot clinic held at the Marian Home on 9/20/2022 at 1:30 pm for residents, employees and family members. We will need signed permission forms by 9/12/2022 for ANYONE wanting the Influenza shot. Please call Faith at 515-574-5905 if you as a family member would like your flu shot here at the Marian Home.

On another note from the Nursing Department, please remind family members to let either your loved one's Nurse or Nicole know when your family member has an appointment.

We appreciate when you are available to help out and attend appointments but please notify the Nursing Department of any upcoming appointments, so we can be prepared and have your loved one ready. You can always email Nicole, who assists with making/attending appointments when families cannot and assists with helping with the transportation. Her email address is nlessmeier@marianhomefd.com.

We intend to add to our Nursing staff again this month. Warm Welcome to Newton Gichaba, LPN. Newton will be attending ICCC to finish his RN degree. In addition, Hannah Landwehr and Michaela Leiting, who are both CNAs. We are happy to have them on our Team!

Maintenance & Transportation | Travis Filloon The Maintenance & Transportation Department staff and the grounds around the complex are looking forward to some cooler weather as summer slowly comes to a close.

The lack of rain and abundant sunshine has required us to frequently water our new plants/shrubs in the recently rejuvenated courtyard of the Village and the plants seem to be thriving. We encourage our Marian Village tenants to be thinking about how they can best enjoy this beautiful space, whether they want to plant things in the raised planter bed or just sit & relax on the new patio furniture. The planter bed will remain readily available for those whom might want to plant and tend vegetables, or similar type garden plants come next spring!

The grounds around the Marian Home & Village are strained from the heat and lack of moisture but the walking paths and landscaping otherwise continue to look cared for & beautiful thanks to our maintenance team. Take a walk with a loved one and enjoy!

Our transportation team (Jason, Dave, Dennis, & Tom) care deeply about the service they provide when transporting our residents & tenants to appointments.

We are always open to suggestions on how we can make “our” Marian Home & Village feel or look a bit more like “home”!

Colleen Stringer Colleen is an RN and has been at the Marian Home since August of 1996. She is the best example of a team player. She exudes genuine caring for all she cares for, always keeping the bar high for herself as she sets the best example for her co-workers. She goes above and beyond to make sure her residents are given the best life here at the Marian Home. Colleen is loyal to the core and strives daily to lift people up through her great attitude, even when times get a little tricky, as we have seen in the last couple years. Thank you, Colleen for all you do for the Marian Home, you truly make it a better place to work and live. We would not be what we are today without you.

Let all enjoy the colors of fall, the cooler days and nights, spending time watching a football game.

Raking leaves is also something that fall brings us to do. Although it can be a pain, it does bring a smile as I remember when my kids were little and I made piles of leaves for them to jump into.

Housekeeping | Tracey Brownfield September is a favorite month of most people according to some polls.

September 22nd is the fall equinox, meaning it is the first day of fall.

Cooler temps will be coming along with it; it is still warm enough to be outside doing things, like raking and we know how everyone loves all the raking they have to do.

Fall also means farmers will begin harvesting their crops, and the leaves will be changing colors soon.

September also brings us Labor Day, a day to celebrate all the working people out there.

And of course, Grandparent’s Day September 11th, be sure to send a card, visit, a phone call to let them know you are thinking about them, or take them out to eat if possible and let them know how much you love them.

Think about bringing in some warmer items for your family members to wear, because as we all know, winter is not far behind.

Hello from the Kitchen of the Marian Home I have been busy getting to know the residents and their food likes and dislikes. It has been so fun talking to each of them.

Since I have only been here 6 months it has helped me get to know all of them better.

Every Friday we feature one of the resident’s favorite desserts. With the fall approaching we will be redoing all our menus. Also, we will be helping the Activities Department with the Fall Ball.

I am very excited to be a part of this.

Hello! We’ll be having a Fall Formal on the 22nd . This will be a fun time for all. We would like your help, if you have a dress, suit, jewelry, or hair jewelry for your loved one that you they would like to wear, could you bring it in for them? Our team will be getting things that we think would also work . We will be taking donations from anyone and every where we can think of. It's going to take all of us to put this together and make it as memorable as we can for your loved one.
