Juneisaspecialmonthforourcaregivers NationalNursingAssistants Week,whichtakesplaceontheThursdayofthesecondfullweekof June,isaweekfullofcelebrationshonoringthehardworkofassistant nurses Thisyear,itisheldfromJune14to20 Certifiednursing assistantsbeganworkingundertheRedCrossprogramduringWorld WarIandservedalongsideU.S.Armynurses.Hundredsofyoungwomen weretrainedtocareforwoundedsoldiersinreserve,field,base,and civilianhospitals.Before1987,nursingassistantswerenotrequiredto haveaformaleducation.
Thisyear'stheme is“RiseofaCareForce,ThePlacesWeCouldGo”. TaketimeduringthisweektoacknowledgeandthankalltheCNA’sfor alltheydo
JuneisalsoatimetorecognizeAlzheimer’sDisease.JuneisAlzheimer’s andBrainAwarenessMonth anopportunitytoholdaconversation aboutthebrain,andsharethefactthatAlzheimer’sdiseaseandother dementiasareamajorpublichealthissue.Everyonewhohasabrainis atrisktodevelopAlzheimer’s,theonlyleadingcauseofdeaththat cannotbeprevented,curedorevenslowed.DuringthemonthofJune, theAlzheimer’sAssociationaskspeoplearoundtheworldtowear PurpleandusetheirbrainstofightAlzheimer’sdisease Iprayfor strengthforthosefamiliesthathavealovedonewithAlzheimer’s IwanttosayThankYoutoalltheCNA’swhoprovideloveandcareeach dayforourResidents.

Theroutinereplacementofworn/stainedcarpetandflooring alongwithpaintingthroughouttheMarian“Home”isan ongoingefforttomaintainthehighstandardsofcleanliness, comfort,andappearanceweallhavecometoexpect.
IntheMarianVillage,therecentinstallationofnewwall mounted“mini-split”air-conditioningunitsinmany apartmentshaveallowedtenantsgreatercontrolofthe temperaturesintheirapartments.Thesenewunitsaremainly intendedtosupplycoolingbuttheydohavethecapabilityto provideasmallamountofheatsoastobettermaintaina moreconstanttemperaturesduringtheextremetemperature swingsweoftenexperienceinSpring&Fall!
Ifyouoryourfamilymembersareunsureofwhenorhowto operatethetemperaturecontrolsinyourapartment/or residentroom,pleasecontactthemaintenancedepartment ormedirectly.
