ABIDE DESIGN INTERIORS Led by Kati Ramage, Abide Design Interiors specializes in full-service interior design. They collaborate with every client, from concept to completion to achieve the look and feel envisioned for the home. Abide recently completed a guesthouse in the Concession. The open kitchen featured navy cabinetry with a 10 foot butcher-block island. Blonde wood open shelving was added to display barware on top of a textured geometric tile backsplash. Fun features included polished concrete floors, textured wall coverings in the tray ceilings and elevated, industrial light fixtures. Throw pillows and area rugs added warmth and leather lounge chairs, counter stools, and cocktail tables completed the perfect blend of textures, creating a comfy urban-loft feel for this entertaining space. “Layering textures continues to be trendy & functional,” says Kati. “I’m all about embracing design trends, but if it’s not going to be practical for the living spaces, I steer clear.” Bringing the outdoors in is still a popular look so Kati incorporates natural textures like rattan, cane, wicker and wood. Maximizing natural light is also a big focus.

Abide uses a design questionnaire, intro call and onsite consultation to get to know the client before a custom—design package is created. For full service clients, Abide ensures that all design needs are met throughout the entire design/construction process. Kati is proud to have built & redesigned a handful of family homes in her own Lakewood Ranch area over the last 15 years. “We are forming a relationship during the design process, and my goal is to see the client happy with where they ‘abide’ at the completion of their space.”

Barbara Vanderkolk Gardner is a former university vice president and CEO of a medical foundation, but design has become her passion.
