Referendum on USYD Boycotting Israel

A referendum will be held concurrently with the SRC Elections, from 22nd to 24th of September. It calls on the University of Sydney to adopt “an academic boycott policy against Israeli Institutions complicit in apartheid and genocide”.

The words ‘Heidelberg school’ may not be immediately recognisable to most Australians, but its paintings (and the thousands of paintings that imitate or reproduce their qualities, which persist to the present and will undoubtedly continue into the future) are generally thought to constitute what ‘Australian’ ‘art’ ‘is’.
Absolute victimhood is an offensive. It is but one legible response to pain. The kind of intellect born of suffering is my subject. The long history of philosophy on the subject of reason has not considered the body, let alone suffering, as something that grounds it.
