The above is a passage from ‘Ode: Intimations of Immortality’ a poem by William Wordsworth about the beauty that is our natural tendency to find joy in darkness and grief, and from which Splendour gets its name. Through the late ‘90s, the Australian summer festival season was a thrilling rite of passage for young music fans and full to the brim with international acts, most notably the star-studded Big Day Out.
