Crewe Women's Aid (CWA) is a local charity, based in Crewe and working across Cheshire East. We work to support women and children who have experienced domestic abuse. Domestic abuse can take many forms including physical violence, financial and economic abuse, psychological abuse and sexual abuse. We define domestic to mean family members linked to one another by blood, marriage or relationship. Abuse can be from a partner, ex partner, sibling, parent or other relative. At least 1 in 4 women experience domestic abuse in their lifetime and in families where abuse occurs, over 80% of children will be in the same or next room when it happens. The impact of domestic abuse on adults and children is deep and long lasting. An estimated 70% of perpetrators and 75% of victims will have experienced or witnessed domestic abuse within their families during childhood. Our aim is to break this cycle and improve the lives of women and children affected by domestic abuse. Whilst
it is true that victims of domestic abuse are
predominantly
female,
men
can
also
experience
domestic abuse. We will always support male victims to access appropriate organisations.

The Lily Jones Support Centre, in Crewe, offers modern facilities and a welcoming atmosphere. Set up in 1977 by the late lily Jones, we provide a range of services for women and children fleeing domestic abuse. • We offer safe, temporary accommodation • We can also support a referral to one of our local partners across Cheshire East and the North West for women who need to move further afield. We have four levels of service and our experienced and trained staff can support you with moving, with benefits and financial

organisations across the UK, Cheshire Police, Cheshire East Council and Social Care, Arch, Barnado's, CLASP, Catch 22, Cheshire Probation and the Domestic Abuse Family Safety Unit to ensure seamless services for families across Cheshire East. We are also supported most generously by donations of goods, money and clothes by our local church groups and other local organisations.
