POOL CLOSURE IMPACTS
As part of a recent safety inspection, slip‑resistance testing was carried out at Brennan Park Recreation Centre pool by an independent third party on February 11, under the direction of Vancouver Coastal Health.
As the report indicated that the tiles did not meet the required anti slip standards for wet surfaces required by the BC Public Health Act Pool Regulation, VCH ordered an immediate closure. Aquatics programs have been impacted by this closure. Registrations and all drop‑in programs are temporarily on hold.
Any 10 and 20 visit passes due to expire during the closure will be extended. Monthly pass holders will also receive an extension through the closure. Staff will cancel and refund all registered aquatic programs and rentals. Refunds will automatically be issued this week. Thank you for your patience while we work to re open the pool as quickly as possible. We will continue to keep the community updated.

RENOVATION IMPACTS
While the upgrades at Brennan Park Recreation Centre continue, there will be some impacts to be aware of:
The south (Aquatics) entrance will remain closed until the new building addition is complete.
The gymnasium will be innaccessible from the main lobby. Please enter from the carpark.
During this closure, temporary washrooms are in place in the carpark, as the Tantalus washrooms will be undergoing renovations at this time.
The Black Tusk Activity room, Tantalus Activity room, and the Tantalus washrooms will continue to undergo renovation improvements through Spring 2025.
During this time these rooms and washrooms will be unavailable.
This closure is in place for your safety. We understand this may be an inconvenience, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve the space. Alternate washrooms can be accessed in the arena lobby. Additional temporary accessible washrooms are located outside the gymnasium.

The renovations have also impacted some programs.
The May 9 Pro D Camp will unfortunately not be running this season.
