Summer Newsletter 2022 SOUTH PUGET SOUND HABITAT FOR HUMANITY JULY 2022
welcome letter GREG LAURA - CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Summer is finally here! In addition to the longer days and warmer weather, it brings with it fresh hopes and dreams. We will be breaking ground shortly on our Tâlícn townhome development in Tumwater. It will be a 28 home community when fully completed. We also have plans to start a 22 home community in Yelm that we hope to break ground on in spring of 2023. The Boulevard project in Olympia is still in the early planning stages but we look forward to sharing more soon. As an organization we look back at where we were just a few short years ago and are very excited with the growth we have made in such a short time. Just as exciting is our ability to help more individuals and families move into safe, stable, and affordable housing in Thurston county. Thank you to all of our neighbors and partners that have joined us on this journey! - Greg

Volunteer Appreciation JULY 2022
Volunteer Appreciate Night! On Wednesday, April 20th, South Puget Sound Habitat hosted our first in person Volunteer Appreciation Night since the beginning of COVID. We invited all of our dedicated volunteers and their families to join us in honoring THEM! We know that volunteers are the heart and soul of our organization, and it was really great to celebrate them for their commitment and hard work! “To continue to come and be apart of this in the middle of a pandemic, in the middle of a lot of uncertainty in our world and our lives… It means the world to me and it means the world to all of our staff here. Much appreciation” – Carly Colgan CEO Volunteers from right to left: Jim Barnard, Paul Knight, Ron Holman, Steve Thompson (Yelm Store) Randy Moore, Selden Hall, Tom Spears (Oly Store) Walter Sullivan
Home Dedication Deyoe Vista JULY 2022
On Saturday, April 30th, South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity hosted our final Home Dedication ceremony in the Deyoe Vista Community. We celebrated three incredible families moving into homes that they helped build with their very own hands. The first hammer swung in Deyoe Vista in 2012, and the neighborhood is now complete. Consisting of 33 Habitat homes built from the ground up by volunteers, donors, and the homeowners that live there today. The vibrancy of the winding streets and brightly colored homes are echoed by the chatter of children, playing and thriving. Building generational wealth has no better catalyst than owning your own home and the need for decent and affordable places to live has never been more significant. Families that partner with South Puget Sound Habitat work hard to build a better life for themselves – and their children. Congratulations from our habitat team and our volunteers!
Women Build 2022
EVERY WOMAN has the power to change the world
This year, our Women Build event looked a little different. It was our first "Sponsor A Stud" event, where a family, business or organization could sponsor a stud for a home construction build, make their mark on it and return it so it can be built into one of our upcoming homes this summer!!
We would like to thank Matchless Brewing for providing a great space, delicious beverages, and good vibes for our team and our guests. We would also like to say THANK YOU to everyone that joined us, sponsored a stud and donated. We can't wait to see all the selfies in your new Habitat T-shirts!

summer lake party EMPLOYEE APPRECIATION BBQ
We spent a sunny day at the lake, appreciating all of our employees and their families. We are not a team because we work together. We are a team because we respect, trust, and care for each other!
Team work, makes the dream work.
Critical Home Repair Homeowner Quote "I say “home is where your heart is.” Because my father doesn’t have wind blowing through his siding, his home is secure and he has a better place to hang his heart. From my family to yours, thank you for this opportunity and thank you, Veterans, for your service." - Carolyn, daughter of Home Repair Homeowner
