I am having an incredible time establishing new relationships and learning valuable financial and homebuilding skills as a new homeowner through Habitat’s homeownership program. I marvel at the commitment, knowledge, and expertise of longtime construction volunteers, and the dedication to excellent community service provided to customers and new homebuyer volunteers at the Habitat stores. Habitat’s homeownership program offers new homeowners more than the joy and stability of homeownership. It provides an opportunity to plan and work toward a more meaningful life and family legacy. I am an elderly, disabled veteran living alone in rural Thurston County on a limited social security income. In Feb. 2020 the water pipe between my well and pump house broke. After a week, friends spliced in a temporary garden hose fix so I had water to the house, but I worried about safety issues as I researched cost-prohibitive solutions . I turned to Habitat's Critical Repair Program for help and was approved. I ended up with a new water pipe from the well to the pump house and a new faucet at the well head. It was such a relief to have safe, plentiful water again. Carol, CHR Homeowner

We partner with families through our Critical Home Repair Program to ensure that the health and safety of all Thurston County homeowners is met.

Our first Critical Home Repair project was completed in July of 2020. A single mom who’s home was flooded in the Nisqually River Valley. We have since finished 6 more projects from plumbing and electrical to wheelchair ramps and roof replacements our goal is simple, keep people in their homes.
