Stepping Into Excellence

St. Philip’s School and Community Center has a long tradition of excellence. Excellence in education is exemplified not only in our curriculum but in our student outcomes. As we embark on this new school year, our theme - STEPPING INTO EXCELLENCE - reminds us of our mission to our students and our community. The heart of our curriculum supports our mission of transforming the world through Faith, Education, and Service. We ensure that we teach with excellence so our students develop into leaders that have a love for God, love of self, and love for learning as a result of their educational experiences here at St. Philip’s.

Our excellence in teaching is facilitated by our faculty who provide a unique and innovative approach to educating children. As our students prepare for a global society, we focus on the five C’s, Critical thinking and Problem Solving, Communication, Collaboration, Creativity and Innovation, and Christ-likeness. Students are challenged to think critically through our advanced curriculum and project/problem-based learning. Our holistic approach to education allows students to develop intellectually, emotionally, socially, physically, artistically, creatively and spiritually. Our emphasis in the performing and fine arts and our innovation/maker space lab, give our students the creative outlets to express themselves. Providing an excellent experience for our students begins with the faculty but is also evident in our overall curriculum. The curriculum allows our students to develop a solid foundation and appreciation for cultural diversity, with a specific emphasis on African-American culture and history. Additionally, each aspect of our curriculum from our core curriculum to our academic excursions and our fine arts programming, are designed for our students to develop as Christ-centered servant leaders that exude confidence in and out of the classroom.

This 2019-2020 school year, our students and school community will step and progress forward in sync and on one accord, as we continue providing students an unparalleled, excellent education.
