Welcome to Spring Fling 2019! This year we have another jam-packed arts and crafts open studio event, spanning across our magnificent region of Dumfries and Galloway. Ninety-four studios from Drummore in the west of the region to Eskdalemuir in the east will open their doors and invite you in to see where the creative magic happens. These carefully selected high-quality studios cover a range of disciplines from painting, willow, hats and felt to metalwork, furniture, glass and illustration. Many of our studios are family friendly so plan ahead and make this a weekend for all the family. New for 2019 we have launched the brandnew Spring Fling website for event visitors, introduced the New Graduate Scheme for emerging artists and makers to take part in the event, developed our workshops programme and have 13 new studios taking part. Workshops offer a wide range of textiles, jewellery, ceramics, painting, spoon carving and more! This year, you, our Spring Fling visitors, have more opportunities than ever to get hands-on and learn directly from some of our artists and makers. You can then visit their studios, learn about their practices and maybe buy some original work over Spring Fling weekend.

demonstrations, view our studios exhibition and book workshop tickets. Then in May, there will be an exhibition at Gracefield Arts Centre showcasing the culmination of the Energise Residency programme which took place in the Galloway Glens from late 2018. We would like to thank our funders and supporters who have made this year’s event possible, Dumfries & Galloway Council, EventScotland, Creative Scotland, the Barfil Trust, The Holywood Trust, our dedicated board, staff and our Friends. On behalf of everyone at Upland, we hope you enjoy Spring Fling Open Studios 2019. Joanna Macaulay Events & Exhibitions Manager Upland CIC

Also featuring this year is The WaterOrgan, a specially commissioned public art project. It will excite and inspire audiences with fountains of sound and light. Focusing on hydro-kinetic energy, the commission will be on the Green Route and should not be missed. If our high quality art and craft studios don’t entice (but they will!), we are sure this spectacular commission will tempt you off the M74 and into our beautiful region. In the lead up to the main event there will be the SF Pop-UP at The Oven in Dumfries. Here visitors can grab a brochure, see artists Images by Colin Tennant
