The Chat Godfather
In November 1974, I took my first position as a Manager at Stenhousemuir, its amazing to think that all these years have passed and I'm setting off on another season of working alongside Declan Murphy, a young manager of similar age to myself back in 1974 (The Youngest Manager in Europe at the time). I'm sure that despite the varying times, he is following the same enthusiasm and love for the game which motivates you to want to work in the game forever. The only difference being, I was a young manager with 11 board members, a committee and a physio, and we were lingering at the bottom of the Scottish Second Division. In the past 5 years, I've witnessed Michael Keating (Former First Team Coach) take the club from a very amateur set up, to giving Declan a platform to continue the upwards spiral of the club. Myself In particularly is very much looking forward to the new season, after securing the 2022 FQPL 5 Men's Premiership and Grand Final Double. This weekend we look forward to going into a Australia Cup Tie against Kingscliff Wolves, and going forward into the League Fixtures that follow, and hopefully carry on the strong performances from last year. One thing I feel very strange about is that I've got the sane excitement for the new season as I had when I started the journey in November 1974 with Stenhousemuir. The Feeling is the same, and I'm sure Declan feelings will be mirrored.
