Firstly, I'd like to welcome everyone to the first edition of 'United', this has been in the pipeline for a while now and it's great to finally see it come together. Now time for the serious stuff. With our Senior Men's squad locked in for 2023, we’re looking forward to what is set to be a competition full of quality opposition across both age groups. The boys have been working hard getting plenty of minutes in the legs, learning to cope with the ruthless temperatures so far this year. this weekend we welcome Kingscliff Wolves to 'The Summit' for the first round of the Australia cup, a team full of pedigree and talent they’ll be our biggest test to date which is what we look forward to seeing how we shape up against such an opposition. The lads are raring to get our campaign underway and following on from a strong 2022.
I'd also like to mirror Declan's opening message, it's great to see this come together, and I'm excited to see how this plays out in 2023. After a few Pre-Season matches under our belt, our 2023 season kicks off with the Kappa Women's Super Cup this weekend. The excitement and vibe within the squad is electric, as we look forward to a challenging game against Caboolture. Caboolture have proven to be a strong team, and have been active in the transfer market during the off season, so it will be a good test for us as we have been training hard and preparing to make 'The Summit' a fortress this season. We have made some really positive signings ourselves, bringing in some NPL experience into our squad. That Experience will be invaluable this season, the signs are good and we have been gelling well as a team whilst playing some beautiful football in our Pre-Season matches. So make sure to get down and support the ladies in what will be an awesome night of football.
FQPL3 South Coast side Kingscliff Wolves. Our mens side so far have had a fairly easy pre-season against sides in lower divisions that set up very well defensively which has given the lads a good chance to gel in attack however very little opportunity for our defence to be tested. New players Tyson Walpole and Rhys Webster have slotted into the lineup seamlessly adding extra quality to what was already a very impressive lineup. Rhys Phipps will want to continue his goalscoring form from last year where he netted 38 goals in 21 games. The lads will be relishing a genuine test this weekend up against another well drilled but certainly a much higher quality side than what they have come up against so far and will want to ensure they kickstart their campaign with a solid performance and result taking them through to third round next weekend. The u23s will also continue their pre season against the Kingscliff u23s before hand at 4pm. Be sure to come down to The Summit on Saturday night to support the teams!
Kingscliff Wolves finished 5th last season in what could be considered a very underrated and strong
FQPL3 South Coast. A club with big ambitions similar to SUFC - will certainly provide a big test for our FQPL4 men’s side.
Caboolture FC gained promotion via default having finished 3rd in FQPL3 last season - with that said they have taken the opportunity in their stride having signed former Sunshine Coast Wanderers NPLW coach Cory Robins as head coach for 2023 as well as number of other quality players to lead their charge in the coming season.
from FQPL2 in the first round of the Kappa Women’s Super Cup. These two sides know eachother very well having played against eachother last season. With Caboolture taking all 3 points on both occasions.
Coach Lucas will however be quietly optimistic heading into the match having recently playing out a 0-0 draw another strong FQPL2 side in UQFC. Having bolstered the squad with a few extra quality players there is no reason why our women’s side can't shock a few and send a message to other FQPL3 sides that they mean business in 2023. The u23s kick off in a curtain raiser beforehand against Caboolture u23s. Be sure to be down at The Summit in what is going to be a great night of football.

When creating winning teams, it's easy to focus on individual talents and skills But what about the power of community in supporting winning teams? Andy Nutton and Kristian Samuels believe great communities can significantly support a team's success.
"A strong community is the foundation of a team's achievements, and I believe it's one reason Springfield United is such a successful club – we have an unshakeable community both at the club and across Greater Springfield," Nutton said
Veteran SUFC member, Nutton has been a part of SUFC since 2008 "I've played at a few clubs, and SUFC is by far the standout – I love how friendly and supportive everyone is."
As Director and Principal at Purple Cow Real Estate in Springfield Lakes, Nutton knew it was important for his team to give back to the local community as Springfield United's Premier Partner in 2023. "We saw an opportunity to support our community and invest in the future of our local athletes," Nutton said.
Samuels, who kicks off his second season with SUFC in 2023, is a fan of the family-orientated and diverse community culture enjoyed at the club
"It's like the whole neighbourhood is out together some days, and I find focusing on the game as a team is also the best thing for releasing a busy week," Samuels said
Besides football, Nutton and Samuel's other passion is, of course, real estate You'll find them helping local property owners and investors sell and lease homes with the Purple Cow team when they're not on the pitch
"Purple Cow is a genuinely local team We're not a small 'one man band' or a corporate franchise – so we have the power and flexibility of a strong and experienced team – and we wholeheartedly care about our community, " Nutton states.
"We're also different from other agencies – our focus on quality property marketing can take a good sale price to a wow sale price," Samuels reiterated
Greater Springfield doesn't typically conform to the broader Queensland or national property trends. Our community has so much new infrastructure and amenity development that it essentially creates its own property market. While many other areas are experiencing a downturn, Greater Springfield is bucking the trend. We recommend regularly speaking with our local experts to get correct information about your property and our local market's position at any given time.
There is nothing worse than undervaluing your home. Make sure you choose a local team that knows the area and understands what Greater Springfield has to offer for buyers and tenants. Like football, it's always best to have the home team advantage. Having a knowledgeable local team will also understand the hidden value in your property, the village, and our market, which will translate to a better outcome for you
Talk to the Purple Cow team for a 'health check' on your property You'll learn valuable insights such as a price update, suburb market reports, current demand for your home, and a rental appraisal. Also, discuss simple suggestions that could add value to your home because first impressions count, and this advice can help your property stand out. Also remember to be diligent, do research, ask questions, and have a clear strategy.
We're proud to be a part of SUFC's season and look forward to continuing to support our community. If you're selling or leasing a property in 2023, ask us about Purple Cow's Member's Premium Package to increase your success in the property market.

This section will showcase the results of our advanced Junior Divisional teams for 2023.
After trialling in late 2022 and some good pre-season hit outs, the sides are raring to go for the new season as we look to advance our sides into the top level of Junior competitions within FQ for 2024 onward.

It's Great to see so many kids playing at SUFC, it is an exciting time for the club. My role is to oversee the development of players in 13-18 years.
I have spent the first 2 months observing training sessions, watching games & developing a style of play. The coaches recently participated in their first coach education information session.
The biggest change this year will see the advanced teams move from a 60 minute training sessions in 2022 to 90 minutes. This will give players more time to develop their skill and game awareness.
I will be busy over the next few weeks assessing players and completing player dispensation forms for players to play up in a higher age group.

The Springfield United female program is booming this year with girls teams from u8s through to u17s. As well as a womans metro and Legends teams for the 2023 season. Our divisional girls started training last week and teams are already starting to be finalised. The future is looking bright with some great young quality coming up through SUFC.
The senior woman metro and Legends teams have been training together and are still on the hunt for some players. Very exciting for these players as they come to play in Springfield's first ever female legends team.

In November 1974, I took my first position as a Manager at Stenhousemuir, its amazing to think that all these years have passed and I'm setting off on another season of working alongside Declan Murphy, a young manager of similar age to myself back in 1974 (The Youngest Manager in Europe at the time). I'm sure that despite the varying times, he is following the same enthusiasm and love for the game which motivates you to want to work in the game forever. The only difference being, I was a young manager with 11 board members, a committee and a physio, and we were lingering at the bottom of the Scottish Second Division. In the past 5 years, I've witnessed Michael Keating (Former First Team Coach) take the club from a very amateur set up, to giving Declan a platform to continue the upwards spiral of the club. Myself In particularly is very much looking forward to the new season, after securing the 2022 FQPL 5 Men's Premiership and Grand Final Double. This weekend we look forward to going into a Australia Cup Tie against Kingscliff Wolves, and going forward into the League Fixtures that follow, and hopefully carry on the strong performances from last year. One thing I feel very strange about is that I've got the sane excitement for the new season as I had when I started the journey in November 1974 with Stenhousemuir. The Feeling is the same, and I'm sure Declan feelings will be mirrored.
'Metro to the Max' is the segment where we take a closer look at the Metro Side of the Club. To run you through the first edition, here is Club Pest and Metro Vice President Max.
As we head into the new season, there are three certainties in life, Death, Taxes and Metro Men drinking at the bar post-game. And the 2023 season looks to be no different. With many new and returning faces as we look to defend our Springfield Cup Title won by the City 4 in 2022. 2023 also sees the return of the Metro Women at Springfield United, we look forward to seeing them in action throughout the season as well.
The lads have been hard at work at training and some interclub friendlies with some promising signs for the upcoming season. A quick rundown of how we went last year: Three finals appearances with two being Grand Finals
Goals scored: 239 Goals over 83 games between the 6 teams.
Top Goal Scorers: Daniel Lake - 18; Nathan Crowley - 17; Eoin Friel - 14
Most Yellows: Justin Hilliard - 3
Beer drunk at the Cross Bar: Too many to count.
This week the SUFC Metro Men play over four fixtures. With an interclub match of SUFC Gold and SUFC Blue kicking off at 6pm on 2B. SUFC Silver also kickoff at 6pm against Wynnum Wolves on 2A. And if you can’t find anything better to do this Saturday afternoon come and watch some fun football, as SUFC White battle it out against Toowong in the afternoon heat with a 3pm kick off on Field 1A in a curtain raiser to the FQPL4 Australia Cup game at 7pm.
Here is the first edition of 'Over The Hill', a segment where we delve into the Overs Side of the Club. To give you a quick overview of the Overs setup for 2023, here is Club Overs Legend Lee.
Over'Our QMF masters teams take to the field in 2023 strengthened by the addition of an 8th team. This will see 5 o35s teams and 3 o45s teams representing the club. This also makes us the largest represented club in the QMF. With a combined total of 12 seasons of o35s since 2017, the club has made 9 grand finals, winning 7 of those. Catering for all abilities, "Old Man Football" promotes fitness, mental well-being and mateship through football. Plus you'll always find us supporting 'The Crossbar' on a Friday night after every home game, reliving the games with laughter and beers!'
