Since 1975, The Springfield Arts Council’s Arts in the Classroom program has made professional artists and performances available to children in Springfield and Clark County schools. We appreciate your decision to bring the performing arts into your school. When funding your Arts in the Classroom performance, in addition to your school’s building activity fund, you may wish to contact your PTO, Booster Club, or Corporate Partner to assist. Program fees account for approximately 75% of the actual cost of each program. The remaining 25% of the fee is subsidized by grants and donations to the Springfield Arts Council from individuals, businesses, and foundations.
Your principal’s signature on the Arts in the Classroom Order Form (on page 11 of this booklet) is your school’s financial commitment to the Springfield Arts Council to schedule requested programs. SPRINGFIELD ARTS COUNCIL Since 1975, The Springfield Arts Council’s Arts in the Classroom program has made professional performing artists and live performance experience available to Springfield and Clark County children in their own schools. The variety of culturally diverse theater, dance, and music programs provide a valuable enhancement to your curriculum, often exposing students to the performing arts for the first time, encouraging creative thinking, self-expression and classroom achievement. The Springfield Arts Council’s Youth Arts Ambassadors program engages Springfield and Clark County middle and high school students with peers who share their interest and passion for the performing arts. Youth Arts Ambassadors attend performing arts workshops, interact with other teens in the community with similar interests, and participate in creating live theater as mentored performers and theater crew, enriching their understanding of the process of creating and appreciating the performing arts. Springfield City School District, the Clark State Community College, Wittenberg University, Springfield Museum of Art, and the Springfield Arts Council, comprise Arts Alive! in partnership with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts innovative “Partners in Education” Program. Arts Alive! focuses on providing professional development programs, aimed at assisting teachers in Springfield and Clark County with integrating the arts into classroom lesson plans and curriculum.
