2012 was chosen to be the European Year for Active Ageing. and solidarity between generations. In today’s society, old people will grow older and older. They will no longer be thought to only stay alive as “o ld friends, winter companions, the old men lost in their overcoats, waiting for the Sun”, according to Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel’s tender and touching words.
