House of Life chronicles its lore and tradition: stories of rabbis and mystics — and tells the story of the famous giant Golem, created from clay to protect the Jewish community. The cemetery serves, as does the film, as a reminder of the indomitable spirit of a people determined to honor their past and preserve the lessons of history.

This solemn yet joyous documentary tells the story of the Old Jewish Cemetery in Prague, the site of layer upon layer of buried members of the once-vibrant Jewish community of the ghetto. Two thirds of a million people from all over the world now visit the cemetery each year. The 12,000 stones on the surface of The Old Jewish Cemetery may be covering as many as 100,000 members of Prague’s historic Jewish community.

IN THE FIGHT FOR SOUTHAMPTON: 1819-1893.

The Hampton Classic, the largest one-week horse show in North america, provides a stage for 1,600 of the country’s top horses to vie for $700K in prize money, over eight exciting days of competition. In addition to showcasing world class show jumping, the Hampton Classic is a highlight of the Hamptons summer social season, and includes more than 70 shops, three VIP tents, and pony rides. Prior to joining the Classic, Cohen worked in the White House’s office of Political affairs, during the administration of President george Herbert Walker Bush.

Southampton residents pass by Captain george White’s home, the modest farm house located at the corner of main Street and Jagger Lane, at least once a day but know little of the dynamic personality who lived within. after Captain White retired in 1850 from 30 years on whaling ships he became a tireless fighter for the rights of local farmers and fishermen who were battling large landowners wanting to build hotels, casinos, racetracks and factories on the ocean and bays.

Southampton could easily have looked like atlantic City today if it were not for this fearless man.

Shanette Barth Cohen has served as the Executive Director of the Hampton Classic Horse Show, first organized in Southampton in the early 1900s, for the past seven years.

Mr. Edmonds has over 20 years of experience in historic house museums in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Florida. He came to Southampton in 2006 to manage the Museum’s five properties containing sixteen historic buildings. In 2011 the Rogers Mansion, located at 17 Meeting House Lane, was awarded a unique status as a museum complex on the National Register of Historic Places.

gary Lawrance, architect and author will give a talk about the greatestates and homes built in Southampton during the gilded age, and about what made the Hamptons the summer playground for New York Society. His presentation will include: Wooldon manor, the 56 room home of Woolworth heiress, Jesse Donahue, The orchard, located on Hill Street, built by financier James Breese and designed

by Stanford White, and Chestertown House, the 65 room oceanfront house built by Henry F. Dupont.

alissa Smith is the youngest business owner and the youngest Jewish owner in Southampton. Six years ago she founded Smith in Southampton Village. Last year alissa Smith taught a seminar at the Rogers memorial Library, and she has lectured at the Southampton Historical Society.

Gary Lawrance is an architect whose firm Architectural Presentations,provides architectural models. His work was recently exhibited at the Southampton Historical Museums. He is co-author of the bestseller “Houses of the Hamptons, 1880-1930.”

Terrie Sultan, Director of the Parrish Art Museum

The Parrish art museum, founded in 1898, celebrates the creative legacy of Long Island’s east end. ms. Sultan will discuss how the art, architecture, and landscape of the new Herzog & de meuron building ,scheduled to open in Water mill this fall, will help the Parrish fulfill this mission and become a cultural center for the entire region.

Ms. Sultan is the Director of the Parrish Art Museum, a position she has held since 2008. She is a museum professional with more than 25 years of experience. An
