2nd Fridays Again a Hit as Louisville Community Packs Downtown

LOUISVILLE, OHIO — Downtown Louisville was once again the place to be Friday night as the August edition of 2nd Fridays brought a huge crowd into the heart of the city for an evening filled with live music, food, local vendors, community recognition, Leopard pride and plenty of fun.

Friday, August 14, 2026, shaped up to be another incredible night for the monthly downtown celebration. Even a brief rain shower couldn't dampen the enthusiasm, as people stayed downtown, enjoyed the festivities and continued to support the many local organizations and vendors taking part.

Louisville Celebrates Its Students

Members of Louisville's National Speech and Debate Team were also recognized, celebrating the students who represented Louisville on the national stage through their achievements in speech and debate.

Adding to the community spirit of the evening, local Boy Scouts performed the Pledge of Allegiance as part of the festivities.

The evening also provided an opportunity for the community to recognize some of Louisville's outstanding students and their accomplishments.

Louisville High School student Nash Simmons then delivered a fantastic rendition of Lee Greenwood's “God Bless the USA,” providing a patriotic and memorable moment for those gathered downtown.

The Louisville Leopards State Runner-Up Softball Team was recognized for its tremendous 2026 season and memorable postseason run that took the Leopards all the way to the state championship game.

The recognitions showcased another important part of 2nd Fridays — celebrating the young people who represent Louisville in athletics, academics, extracurricular activities and throughout the community.

Louisville Rotary Farmers Market Stays Busy

Taking the Kempthorn Stage for the evening was Whiskey Loco, bringing modern country music to downtown Louisville.

Just down the street, the Louisville Rotary Farmers Market at the St. Louis Church parking lot was also busy throughout the evening.

The band kept the crowd entertained throughout the night with an energetic performance that had downtown rocking. Families, friends and community members filled the area around the stage, adding to the lively atmosphere that has become a trademark of 2nd Fridays.

Food Vendors Serve Up Something for Everyone

A variety of vendors filled the market, giving visitors another opportunity to shop locally while enjoying everything happening during 2nd Fridays.

St. Louis Church also joined in the festivities with its popular beer wagon and tent, serving its famous beer and brats to those stopping by the market.

There was certainly no shortage of food.

Leopard Football Joins the Celebration

Vendors served up everything from BBQ and burgers to fries, sweet treats, refreshing drinks and much more, giving visitors plenty of choices as they made their way through downtown.

Louisville Leopard pride was also on full display.

The combination of great food, live entertainment and a large crowd created a festival-like atmosphere throughout the evening.

The Giant Leopard Football Tunnel made an appearance, helping promote the Louisville football team and build excitement for the upcoming season.

The football program was also helping raise awareness for its Tackle Cancer fundraiser benefiting Monica Shadle and her family, bringing an important community cause into an evening centered around Louisville coming together.

It was another example of how 2nd Fridays has grown beyond simply being a downtown event. It has become an opportunity for local businesses, organizations, schools, teams, churches and residents to support one another while celebrating the accomplishments of the community.

A Little Rain Couldn't Stop Louisville August brought something a little different when a rain shower moved through during the evening, but the Louisville community wasn't ready to call it a night.

People stayed, the fun continued and downtown remained filled with activity.

Each month of 2nd Fridays has brought something new to the celebration, and August continued that tradition with country music, local food, the Farmers Market, student recognition, Leopard athletics, patriotic moments and another tremendous turnout.

Most importantly, it was another night when neighbors gathered with neighbors, families spent time together and Louisville supported Louisville.

Great music. Great food. Outstanding students.

Leopard pride. A huge crowd. A little rain. And a whole lot of community spirit.

Once again, 2nd Fridays lived up to the message at the heart of the event: “A Community Coming Together.” .

Worship Night at Leopard Stadium Brings Community Together for Evening of Faith and Fellowship

LOUISVILLE, OH — Louisville Leopard Stadium served as the setting for a special evening of faith, music, testimony and community as students, families and supporters gathered for Worship Night at Leopard Stadium.

The event was created and hosted by Louisville High School senior basketball player Cohen Rogers, who worked alongside several volunteers to bring the evening together. A strong crowd came out to take part in a night centered on encouragement, worship and bringing people together.

Rogers opened the evening by sharing words of encouragement with those in attendance, helping set the tone for the night. He would later return to close out the gathering and thank everyone who helped make the event possible.

Music played a major role in the evening, with Stephen Spencer of Eastwood Spring Church leading the crowd in worship. Spencer provided a memorable musical backdrop as those gathered throughout Leopard Stadium joined together in song.

The evening also provided an opportunity for local students to share their personal stories of faith.

Marley Mottice, a senior at Louisville High School and R.G. Drage Career Technical Center, shared her testimony with the crowd.

Matt Himes, also a Louisville and R.G. Drage student, followed by sharing his own testimony and experiences.

Worship Night at Leopard Stadium Brings Community Together for Evening of Faith and Fellowship (Continued) Austin Blyer, Youth Pastor at Faith Family Church, delivered a short sermon, offering a message of faith and encouragement to the students, families and community members in attendance.

Louisville head football coach Jake Adkins also took part in the evening, leading a special prayer over the Louisville City School District and its students and staff as a new school year gets underway.

For Rogers, the evening was about more than simply organizing an event. It was an opportunity to use his platform as a studentathlete to bring classmates, families and members of the Louisville community together for something meaningful.

From the worship music and student testimonies to the message and closing prayer, Worship Night at Leopard Stadium provided a special atmosphere inside a venue normally filled with the sounds of athletic competition.

On this night, Leopard Stadium became a gathering place for faith, fellowship and encouragement.

It was a special evening that brought people together while celebrating God and supporting the students, staff and families who make up the Louisville community.

Louisville Rotary Continues 17-Year Commitment to Nickelplate Trail and Metzger Park LOUISVILLE, OH — For nearly two decades, members of the Louisville Rotary Club have been doing their part to keep one of the community’s outdoor spaces clean and welcoming.

The Louisville Rotary adopted the Nickelplate Trail in 2009, beginning what has now become a 17-year commitment to helping maintain the trail and nearby Metzger Park. Over the years, Rotary members have regularly volunteered their time to pick up litter and clean the area, helping ensure that residents and visitors can continue to enjoy the popular recreational spaces.

That tradition continued over the weekend as Rotary members once again headed outside for another cleanup effort along the trail and throughout Metzger Park.

The work provided more than an opportunity to beautify the community. Members also enjoyed spending time together, catching up with one another and getting some exercise while accomplishing something positive for Louisville.

Projects like the Nickelplate Trail cleanup are part of the Rotary Club's longstanding commitment to community service.

While picking up litter may seem like a small task, 17 years of consistent volunteer work has made a lasting impact on an area used by walkers, runners, cyclists, families and other community members.

The Nickelplate Trail and Metzger Park are important pieces of Louisville's recreational landscape, and keeping them looking their best takes continued effort from volunteers and organizations willing to lend a hand.

Volunteers Help Give Aljancic and Wilson Parks a Fresh Upgrade

LOUISVILLE, OH — Two popular Louisville parks received a fresh upgrade thanks to a group of volunteers who spent their time helping improve playground areas for local children and families.

Volunteers from NewPointe Community Church recently came to Louisville to replace the playground mulch at both Aljancic Park and Wilson Park.

The project involved much more than simply adding a new layer of material. Volunteers cleaned out and removed the old playground surface before installing new playgroundspecific mulch, giving both play areas a cleaner, refreshed appearance and a surface designed for playground use.

Louisville officials praised the completed work, noting that the playground areas turned out beautifully and are ready for children throughout the community to enjoy.

The volunteer effort is another example of local organizations and community members working together to make a positive difference throughout Louisville. Projects like this help maintain the city's parks while providing welcoming outdoor spaces where families can gather and children can play.

A key highlight was the introduction of exchange student Rebecca, who was warmly welcomed into the fold, symbolizing the club's commitment to international friendship and cultural exchange. Louisville City Schools Staff Prepares for New School Year with Training and Professional Development

LOUISVILLE, OH — With a new school year about to begin, teachers, administrators, support staff, and technology teams across Louisville City Schools have spent the past several days preparing to welcome students back into the classrooms.

While students enjoyed the final days of summer break, district staff members were busy throughout Louisville Elementary School, Louisville Middle School, and Louisville High School taking part in professional development, specialized training, technology sessions, and planning designed to help make the upcoming school year a successful one.

At Louisville Elementary School, staff members gathered in the library for Assessment Flowchart Training, providing educators with

additional tools and information to help evaluate student progress and determine the appropriate support for students throughout the school year.

At Louisville Middle School, staff welcomed Missy McClain of Akron Children’s Hospital, a school-based Social and Emotional Learning, Trauma, and Resiliency Coach. McClain met with staff in the auditorium for training focused on helping educators better understand and support the social and emotional needs of students.

Technology was also an important part of the preparations. Schoology sessions were held in the Louisville Middle School STEM room with Troy Davis and Rob Johnson, helping staff prepare to utilize the district’s digital learning resources effectively during the upcoming year.

Pre-K teachers also gathered in the Louisville Middle School library for phonics training, continuing the district’s focus on building strong educational foundations for its youngest learners.

At Louisville High School, staff members participated in Diabetes Training and Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES) sessions in the LHS Study Hall Room. The sessions provided important preparation in both student health and professional development.

Behind the scenes, technology teams and other district personnel have also been working to make sure classrooms, equipment, systems, and buildings are ready when students return.

The past several days have been about much more than simply preparing classrooms. They have provided an opportunity for Louisville City Schools employees to learn, collaborate, sharpen their skills, and prepare for the many different needs students may have during the school year.

All in all, it was a productive period of learning and professional development across the district as Louisville City Schools prepares for another year of educating, supporting, and assisting its students.

With the training wrapping up and preparations nearing completion, the classrooms and hallways will soon be filled again as Louisville City Schools welcomes students back for a new school year.

Faith, Prayer and New Beginnings Mark First Day at St. Thomas Aquinas LOUISVILLE, OH — The halls of St. Thomas Aquinas came back to life as students and staff began the 2026–27 school year, opening another chapter of learning, friendship, service and faith for the Aquinas community.

The first day brought students, teachers and staff back together, and St. Thomas Aquinas marked the occasion with a message centered on gratitude and prayer.

“One picture is worth 1,000 words and prayers,” the school shared as it welcomed the Aquinas family back for another year.

The school offered a special prayer for everyone beginning the new academic year, asking for students to be blessed with curiosity, wisdom, courage and perseverance as they continue to learn, grow and discover their God-given gifts.

Teachers were also remembered in prayer, with the school asking that they be given patience, strength and inspiration as they educate, encourage and care for their students throughout the year.

The prayer extended beyond the classroom, asking for God's protection and guidance throughout the school's hallways, classrooms, athletic fields and the entire Aquinas community.

As students begin settling into their classes and activities, the school hopes the months ahead will be filled with learning, new friendships, joy, service and a continued commitment to faith.

For St. Thomas Aquinas, the first day of school represents more than the beginning of another academic calendar. It is an opportunity for students and staff to grow together while continuing the school's tradition of combining education with its Catholic faith and values.

The Aquinas community concluded its back-toschool message by asking for the intercession of its namesake to guide everyone in wisdom and truth throughout the year.

Knights Finish Preseason Strong with Scrimmage Victory Over Springfield

LOUISVILLE, OH — The St. Thomas Aquinas Knights wrapped up their 2026 football preseason on a winning note Tuesday night, earning a scrimmage victory over Springfield and building momentum as the focus now shifts to Week 1.

The final preseason tune-up gave the Knights another opportunity to compete, evaluate personnel and continue preparing for the challenges ahead. With the scrimmage schedule now complete, St. Thomas Aquinas is ready to trade the preseason for games that count.

The Knights will officially kick off the 2026 regular season on Friday, August 21, when they travel to Strasburg for a 7 p.m. matchup.

After opening on the road, Aquinas will return home on Friday, August 28, to face Wellsville at 7 p.m. The home opener will also feature the Principal’s Tailgate beginning at 6 p.m., giving the STA community an opportunity to come together before kickoff.

Tuesday's scrimmage also showcased the support surrounding the Knights program. A special thank-you went to longtime sideline volunteer Lora, who captured the team's winning formation following the victory.

Support for the black and gold was also strong away from the field. Mr. Smer was called into action at Knooks Corner, where new St. Thomas Aquinas T-shirts proved popular with fans. STA reported strong sales and thanked everyone who stopped by to purchase gear and support the school.

The Knights have now completed their preseason work. The next time they take the field, the scoreboard matters.

Leopards Blank Buckeye 1-0 in Defensive Battle to Win Home Opener LOUISVILLE, OH — The Louisville Leopards Girls Soccer team opened its OHSAA regular-season home schedule with a hard-fought victory, shutting out the Medina Buckeye Bucks 1-0 in a defensive battle that went down to the final whistle.

Louisville entered the opener without several key offensive weapons. Senior forward Reese Riley, one of the Leopards' top scorers, was unavailable while serving a two-game suspension stemming from a red card at the end of last season's playoff run. Kasey Lint was also sidelined with a sprained ankle and remains day-to-day.

The Leopards then faced another challenge when they lost another of the team's leading scorers to a lower-body injury .

But Louisville wasn't looking for excuses.

It was a "next one up" mentality, and the Leopards turned to their depth. Olivia Barthel, Emily Pauli and Ava Waggoner were among those called upon to step into larger roles, helping Louisville overcome the missing pieces and find a way to win.

Rodriguez Delivers the Difference The game's only goal came in the first half when freshman Ruby Rodriguez found the back of the net at the 34:51 mark.

Waggoner helped create the scoring opportunity and picked up the assist as Rodriguez finished the play to put Louisville ahead 1-0.

From there, the Leopards' defense took over.

Medina Buckeye continued to battle and apply pressure, but Louisville repeatedly turned the Bucks away as the Leopards protected their one-goal advantage all the way to the final whistle.

Edgein Leads Defensive Stand Senior captain and goalkeeper Tristyn Edgein delivered a Player of the Game performance between the posts. Edgein recorded four major saves and made several other key defensive plays to preserve the shutout and Louisville's 1-0 advantage.

She wasn't alone.

Seniors Carolina Bell and Haile Folk turned in strong defensive performances as Louisville's back line remained composed under pressure. The Leopards' team defense proved especially important with the offense operating shorthanded.

The result showcased Louisville's depth. With multiple key players unavailable or injured, the Leopards leaned on their bench, their defense and a freshman goal scorer to secure the victory.

Louisville Football Kickoff Event Scores Big With Community Support LOUISVILLE, OH — The excitement surrounding Louisville Leopards football is building, and the Louisville Touchdown Club once again helped kick off the season in a big way with its annual Louisville Football Kickoff Event.

Now in its third year, the event has quickly become one of the highlights leading into football season. Organizers say the event has continued to grow each year, and this year's strong turnout was another example of the community's support for the Leopards football program.

For $50 per person, guests enjoyed an evening featuring food and an open bar, but that was only the beginning of the festivities.

The event offered something for just about everyone, with games, raffles and live auction items throughout the evening. Guests could also test their skills with axe throwing, mini bowling, darts and cornhole, creating a fun atmosphere while raising support for Louisville football.

More Than Just a Night of Fun While the kickoff event provides an opportunity for Leopard fans, families and supporters to come together before the season, its larger purpose is helping the Louisville Touchdown Club continue its extensive support of the football program.

The Touchdown Club contributes more than $80,000 annually to Louisville football, providing resources that directly benefit players, coaches and the overall program.

Knights Ring Victory Bell with 4-2 Win Over Coventry The St. Thomas Aquinas Knights continued their strong start on the soccer pitch, earning an impressive 42 victory over the Coventry Comets in OHSAA boys soccer action.

The Knights' offense delivered throughout the contest, with Alex Aguilar Reyes leading the charge with two goals. Julian White and Luis Bonilla each found the back of the net as well to help Aquinas secure the victory.

Kenny Aguilar Reyes also made his presence felt in the attack, recording an assist as the Knights put together another productive offensive performance.

The four-goal performance was enough to keep the Comets at bay as St. Thomas Aquinas walked away with the 4-2 winand another reason to ring the victory bell.

Konrad M. Edgerton Konrad M. Edgerton of Louisville, suddenly passed from natural causes on August 15, 2026. Konrad was born on October 18, 1968, in Santa Monica, CA. Konrad was the perfect soulmate, best friend, and husband to Laura (Withey) Edgerton for 38 years.

Konrad worked at Biery Cheese in Louisville for 33 years. He was an avid Hot Wheels collector, loved his 80’s music, and enjoyed telling people about his hometown of Bisbee, AZ. He leaves behind a brother, Spencer Edgerton and niece, Grace of Tucson, AZ; his mother-in-law, Nancy Barlow; his father-in-law Charles Withey (Cheryl); his sister-in-law Kelly (Kenny) Sherwin; his brotherin-law Charles (Wendy – who he affectionately called ‘Sis’) Withey; brother-in-law Eric Cognata, and several other nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind Aunts, Uncles and cousins. We cannot forget to mention their four-legged family members, their dog Heidi and his cat, Tika, who will miss his presence. Those preceding Konrad in death are his parents Norman and Francine Edgerton.

Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be scheduled at a later date. To those who knew and loved Konrad, please take a moment to reflect on a good experience with him and send your thoughts and prayers to his Laura and the rest of the family. He will be greatly missed.

George C Moser George (Chip) Moser, 77 raised in East Canton, OH passed away on August 11th at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio, surrounded by his family and friends.

George was a larger than life presence whose strength, warmth, and unmistakable personality left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He loved his family deeply, found joy in fishing, and drew steady guidance and comfort from his faith throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jan; his parents, George and Harriet Moser; and his brother, Dan. George is survived by his four children: Allen Moser (Samantha), Brian Moser (Debbie), their loving mother Sharon Murphy, Michael Moser (Terri), and Heather Barron (Dan). He also leaves eight grandchildren, who affectionately knew him as "Gumpy"; five great grandchildren; beloved cousins Larry and Dee Moser; and his companion in recent years, Mary Lou Clendenin.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Paquelet Falk Funeral Home on September 5. Calling hours will begin at 3:00 p.m., followed by a service at 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Gary Sinise Foundation, an organization dedicated to serving and honoring our nation's defenders—something that held great meaning for George.

Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that he is at peace and no longer in pain. His stories will continue to be shared, his lessons will continue to guide us, and his love will remain with us always
