Pembroke Lakes Elementary Student Surprised by Military Dad

Pembroke Lakes Elementary was fortunate to be a part of a heartfelt surprise of a lifetime given by Victor Suarez, a Master Sergeant in the US Air Force. The hardest thing for our military families is the distance, being separated from family, missing holidays and special school moments during deployment.

Giovanni’s mom, Vanessa Suarez, called to inform the school that Giovanni’s dad had just arrived from Kuwait where he had been deployed for over six months! So in proud pelican style, we jumped on the opportunity to reunite father and son. As Giovanni transitioned to lunch, his family was in route to the school. During lunch our proud Pelican Giovanni unaware, socialized with peers and enjoyed his meal. As this was going on Master Sergeant Suarez, joined by his wife, Estefania, and younger son Jett, walked casually into the cafeteria. An announcement was made to bring attention to our special guest, and Giovanni exploded with excitement in a full stride to dad’s arms! He was really surprised and happy to see dad.
