Letter from Davie Mayor Judy Paul

Hello Davie Residents,

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a happy and healthy holiday season. The Town of Davie has an exciting year planned for all our wonderful residents. It is once again time for one of Davie’s long-standing traditions, the 85th annual Orange Blossom Festival, Parade and Rodeo. As the redevelopment of downtown Davie continues, the Orange Blossom Festival will be hosted at Pine Island Park/Bamford Sports Complex, on Friday and Saturday, February 25th and 26th. The festival will kick off with a Movie in the Park on Friday, February 25th from 6:00pm – 9:00pm. The evening of family fun will also include arts & crafts vendors, children’s activities and more. Food and beverage will be available for sale. Be sure to bring your blankets and lawn chairs to comfortably view the movie under the stars.

On Saturday, February 26th, the festival grounds in Pine Island Park/Bamford Sports

Complex will open at 9:00am. The parade will travel through the park beginning at 10:00am. Please arrive early to secure your viewing area along the parade route and to support the Kiwanis Club during their annual pancake breakfast fundraiser. The festival will begin immediately following the parade. Activities include arts & craft vendors, musical entertainment, “Cowboy Town”, petting farm, western carriage display, information displays, and a farmers’ market. There will also be a Kids Korner with rides and activities. In addition, the Davie Woman’s Club will host the annual Strawberry Festival on site. As always, the festival will include two pro rodeo events hosted by the Weekly Brothers Davie Pro Rodeo. The Orange Blossom Championship Rodeo will be held within the Davie Arena at the Bergeron Rodeo Grounds at 7:30pm, on Saturday, February 26, and at 2:00pm, on Sunday, February 27th. I can’t wait to see everyone in “Cowboy Town,” during one of my favorite yearly events.

There are also many other events the Town of Davie offers throughout the year to our residents. Join us on Saturday, March 27th for a Bike Rodeo hosted by the Town of Davie and Broward County at Vista View Park. This will be a fun family event focused on bicycle safety. On Saturday, April 2nd the free Annual Touch-a-Truck event will be hosted within the Davie Arena at the Bergeron Rodeo Grounds from 10:00am – 2:00pm. Children can explore their favorite trucks, construction vehicles, police cars and fire trucks. On

Saturday, April 16th, from 9:00am to 12:00pm, the annual Hippity-Hoppity Egg Hunt will take place at Bamford Sports Complex. Admission is FREE for Davie Residents and includes an egg hunt for children ages 0-11, Inflatable rides, Petting Farm, Hayride, Train Ride, DJ Party and Bunny Ears (while supplies last). Additional activities at a cost include Face painting, Arts & Crafts Vendors, Pictures with Peter Cotton Tail and Food Trucks. Children will be divided into age groups. Special prizes awarded for secret eggs. Don’t forget your cameras and baskets! The Town of Davie also hosts a plethora of recreational programs and activities throughout our parks and community centers. As you browse, through the Sports and Activities Directory, keep a lookout, as all the programs provided by Davie Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Arts Department begin with “Davie.” For more information on any Town of Davie program, please call (954)327-3941. As always, see you at the parks, and don’t forget to “Like” us on Facebook. Sincerely, Judy Paul
