Dear Cooper City Residents,

In the true spirit of community, Cooper City supported the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life over the past several months. Through fundraisers and the main event, itself, the Cooper City team had raised more than $7,000, at the time of this writing, in support of those impacted by cancer. This event was a meaningful reminder of what can be accomplished when residents, volunteers, and organizers unite behind the shared purpose of uplifting survivors, honoring those we have lost, and continuing the fight toward a cure for this terrible disease. I am deeply grateful to everyone who contributed their time, energy, and compassion to this great cause. I would be remiss not to mention the impactful efforts made by Cooper City Commissioner Lisa Mallozzi, who spearheaded several fundraisers in partnership with the Cooper City Optimist Club.

As the summer season approaches, our Parks and Recreation team has been hard at work creating opportunities for families to connect, have fun, and make lasting memories, reminding us of what makes Cooper City truly “Someplace Special.” We hope those who attended our Whimsical Mother’s Day Tea enjoyed a beautiful and memorable experience. To all the mothers, grandmothers, and mother figures in our community, I extend my heartfelt appreciation for the love and positivity you bring into our lives every day.

Looking ahead, I encourage all dads, grandfathers, and father figures to grab a fishing rod and join us for the Father’s Day Fishing Derby on June 13. It’s a great opportunity to slow down, enjoy the outdoors, and create meaningful moments with your children—because sometimes the best memories are made with a simple cast of a line and time spent together. We’re also excited to introduce a new event as part of our continued commitment to being an Autism Friendly community. Our Sensory Friendly Movie Night on July 24 is designed to provide a welcoming and inclusive experience for all families. The evening will feature softer lighting, a relaxed environment that allows for movement and flexibility, and thoughtfully adjusted sound levels to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for every guest. Whether you're testing your skills at the Chess Challenge on July 18 or enjoying one of our many other programs, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this summer.

I would also like to thank my fellow Commission colleagues for their continued commitment to investing in our parks and recreational facilities. During a recent Workshop focused on the Parks and Recreation Master Plan, we had the opportunity to look ahead and ensure these spaces can continue to serve our community for many years to come. Plans are already taking shape for a reimagined splash pad at the Pool and Tennis Center, upgrades to the restrooms at Bill Lips Sports Complex are being explored, and our playground replacement program continues full steam ahead. Together, these efforts reflect our shared goal of providing children and families with the very best amenities right here in Cooper City.

I know many of our residents will be traveling in the months ahead. Whether you're exploring somewhere new or enjoying time close to home, I wish you all a safe, relaxing, and memorable summer.

It’s hard to believe that it’s almost time for another summer here in Cowboy Town USA, Davie, Florida! As we look forward to celebrating our amazing country’s semiquincentennial, we are excited to share a summer full of events that bring us closer together and remind us of what makes the Town of Davie so special.

This summer, the Town will continue offering community events that honor our military and veterans, celebrate the birth of our incredible country, all while creating new memories in our numerous open spaces. On Monday, May 25, the Town of Davie, alongside the Boy Scouts, will honor our fallen heroes during our annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony. The parade will start at 10:00AM from the Fire Administration Building and travel to the Bergeron Rodeo Grounds where the ceremony will allow us to stand side by side, reflect, and pay tribute to the brave men and woman who gave everything for our country.

On Saturday, July 4, we’ll gather once again at Bamford Sports Complex for our annual Independence Day Celebration, “Fun on the Fourth.” This year’s event has even deeper meaning as we commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Once again, this will be a Davie Resident only event featuring fireworks and a luminous drone show that will highlight the unique spirit of our Town! Fun times will be had from 6:00PM-9:00PM, while enjoying live music, local food trucks, and games and activities for the entire family. Don’t forget to bring your blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the best fireworks display in South Florida! All resident-attendees must pre-register for this event.

As summer begins to wind down, Town of Davie anglers of all skill levels will come together once more for a tradition that captures the simple joys of growing up in Davie. On Saturday, August 1, the annual Take-A-Kid Fishin’ Rodeo returns to the beautiful grounds of the Davie Golf and Country Club. This catch-andrelease event is more than just fishing, it’s about teaching the next generation, sharing stories, and spending quality time with the family by the water. Prizes will be awarded for various categories of fish caught, including the biggest and most unusual catch. The $10 entry fee includes a t-shirt, give-a-ways, raffle prizes, lunch, and bait. Whether it’s a child’s first catch, or just a peaceful morning outdoors, it’s these moments that make lifelong memories for families in Davie.

Greetings Plantation Residents,

Summer in Plantation is a lively time of year, full of chances for residents of all ages to stay active, connect with neighbors, and enjoy everything our city offers. From youth programs and community celebrations to activities for seniors, there's always something happening that unites our community.

This summer is especially meaningful as our nation observes the United States Semiquincentennial, the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, which we will commemorate this Independence Day. Plantation’s festivities will kick off with our morning parade, themed “America 250: City of Plantation.” This cherished tradition unites residents, community groups, and local organizations in a patriotic celebration of our country and our city.

After the parade, families can cool down and keep celebrating with a pool party at the Aquatic Complex. In the evening, everyone is invited to gather for a festive night featuring a live concert by the VTB Band, a Kids Zone, a community art activation, and a spectacular fireworks display lighting up the night sky.

Throughout the summer, our community centers are filled with children laughing, playing, and forming lifelong friendships at summer camp. These programs create memorable experiences for our youth while offering enriching activities in a safe and welcoming environment.

The Helen B. Hoffman Plantation Library is also encouraging our youngest residents to stay engaged with its summer reading program, fostering a love of books and learning through story times, crafts, suggested reading lists, and more.

Before summer ends, our city will have hosted special programs and dances celebrating both Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, giving families meaningful opportunities to celebrate together. Our senior programs also continue to thrive with engaging activities and trips that help residents stay active, social, and connected.

And as the new school year approaches, we will help our students and families prepare for another exciting year ahead with our Back to School BBQ, where they can pick up school supplies.

In August, be sure to join us for a special Rock the Park-Reggae Edition, which is sure to be a community favorite that brings great music and a lively atmosphere to Pine Island Park.

Summer in Plantation truly reflects the spirit of our community. I encourage you and your family to make the most of the many programs, events, and activities available throughout the season.

Cheerleaders support football teams at games and compete locally in October, with advancement opportunities to Regional and National competitions (December). Pre-season conditioning included in the registration and is held Mondays and Wednesdays (6:30PM–8:00PM) starting on June 8th. Beginning July 15th, regular practices are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays (6:30PM–8:00PM).

Spots fill quickly at all team levels in football & cheer—early registration is essential.

TACKLE FOOTBALL: Ages 5–14 (6U–14U). Season fee includes the use of helmets, pads, game uniform, and practice jersey. Players provide cleats (no metal), practice pants, and mouthguard.

The Broward County National High School Football Showcase returns August 27th–29th, bringing some of the nation’s top-ranked high school football programs to Greater Fort Lauderdale for a highly anticipated weekend of elite competition and national exposure.

Now in its fifth year, the showcase is presented by Br oward Education Foundation, the only 501(c)(3) organization dedicated solely to supporting Broward County Public Schools. The event was created to elevate Broward County’s already strong reputation as a national powerhouse for high school football talent.

“We all know that to be the best, you have to play the best. That vision was championed by Shawn Cerra and Dr. Kevin Perry, and together we created this national event five years ago to elevate Broward County’s phenomenal high school football programs,” said James A. Knapp, President and CEO of Broward Education Foundation.

This year’s showcase will feature eight Broward County high schools facing off against eight of the nation’s top-ranked teams. Participating programs include nationally recognized powerhouses such as St. Thomas Aquinas, American Heritage, Bishop Gorman (NV), DeSoto (TX) and Sierra Canyon (CA), among others. Games will be played at venues throughout greater Fort Lauderdale, drawing athletes, coaches and fans from across the country.

The games will be broadcast or live streamed on ESPN-affiliated networks, providing national visibility for both the players and Broward County as a premier destination for high school athletics.

Mirror Lake Elementary proudly recognizes the lasting impact of former principal Mrs. Marlen Veliz, whose leadership shaped the strong family culture our school enjoys today. JUNE 8 – JULY 31. 7:30AM - 6:00PM. KIDTASTIC CORNER

Ages 3-5. Plantation Community Center. June 8-July 31 MondayFriday. 7:30AM - 2:00PM. Kidtastic Corner is a fun-filled and nurturing environment that offers a variety of engaging activities. Young children will have an opportunity to learn social skills through interactions with their peers, develop fine motor skills, and learn new concepts that will prepare them for a structured envi-ronment. Learning experiences will include hands-on projects, interactive play, learning curriculum, music, movement and special guests. Children are required to wear Kidtastic Corner shirts daily. VELTRI TENNIS CAMP

Ages 5-13. Veltri Racquet Center. June 8- July 31, (No camp July 6-10). Monday-Friday. Full-Day: 10:00AM-3:30PM; Half-Day: 10:00AM12:30PM. Our Tennis Summer Camp provides a great combination of technical instruction drilling, game playing, and other fun activities such as going to the pool every afternoon, playing pickleball and other activities.
