MATCH PREVIEW The Swope Park Rangers (15-11-8, 7th Seed) battle Sacramento Republic FC (19-7-8, 2nd Seed) on Saturday night at Papa Murphy’s Park in Sacramento in the first round of the USL Cup Playoffs. The Rangers fell by 3-1 scorelines in both meetings with Sacramento Republic FC this season. The first came on July 10 in California when Cameron Iwasa struck on both sides of halftime (45th minute and 54th minute). Hadji Barry cut the deficit in half with his goal in the 70th minute before Christian Eissele sealed the result with his goal in the 88th minute. Most recently, SPR and Sacramento met 17 days ago on Oct. 3. Tyler Blackwood leveled the score in the 31st minute after Villyan Bijev had put the Republic ahead in the 17th minute. However, Iwasa again provided the game-winner with his goal in the 57th minute and Jure Matjasic closed out the scoring in the 76th minute. The all-time series now stands at 2-2-2, including the Rangers 1-0 win in last year’s Conference Semifinals.
