James Smith from Luke Webb I have been coaching and mentoring James for a year now and in all my 9 years of coaching I have never come across such a positive young man. His willingness to learn is outstanding and ability to see the positive in any situation is unrivalled in any young man I have ever come across. This mentality is shown in his football. He plays right wing for me and is a constant threat to his opposing full back in every game he plays. I would describe him as an ‘old school winger,’ where he is always looking to beat his Full back or cross the ball or shoot. These are skills that are become rarer and rarer in the modern game but is a mentality that is vital. James possesses good technique but understands that his consistency of technique is something that needs to be worked on. He is dedicated to this and I have seen a huge improvement in his execution this past year. His game understanding and off the ball skill was at a low level at the start of the season but he had never been exposed to the high level of understanding that we teach in this programme. As soon as he was however, he again showed the resilience and determination to learn and apply this understanding. Although it has been difficult he now plays like an accomplished high level winger. So much so that he is now confident enough to give others relevant and correct information during a game. He is a physical player also, with his speed and strength being his biggest assets. These are the two physical traits that are vital to football. His speed with the ball is similar to his speed without the ball, which again is something that is hard to find. James is a goal scoring and goal creating winger who also now appreciates and understands the other side of the game. The thing that most impresses me about him though is his social and emotional intelligence. He is such a positive influence on my squad and culture and because of this I know he is going to be successful in anything he puts his mind to and will continue to progress in his football.

2010/2011 and 2011/2012 - ISFA South Central Representative Squad in National Finals and chosen for National Development Squad. 2012 to 2015 - 窶連' team player for each of his first 4 years at Bradfield 2015/2016 - 1st team regular player and leading goalscorer so far this season (18 goals). Semi-finalists in ISFA national cup. 2007/20016 - Regular player for Guildford Saints in Surrey Primary League. Scorer of close to 200 goals (see reference)

James Smith I have had the pleasure of managing and coaching James for ten years, since he was just seven years old. From an early age, it was clear that James possessed QDWXUDO Ă€DLU DQG DQ H[WUDRUGLQDU\ WXUQ RI SDFH 1RW WKH biggest of seven year-olds, he made up for his slender stature with power and determination, scoring freely and LQĂ€XHQFLQJ JDPHV RQ D UHJXODU EDVLV As the team moved from junior pitches to full size adult surfaces, James’ burgeoning reputation as one of the Surrey Primary League’s top marksmen really JUHZ +LV EDOO VNLOOV VSHHG DQG LPSUHVVLYH XSSHU ERG\ VWUHQJWK HQVXUHG KH FRQVLVWHQWO\ ÂżQLVKHG DW WKH top of the goalscoring charts. On three occasions, James netted over 30 times in a season. As James approaches his last season with Guildford Saints, he has scored nearly 200 goals for the club. The second highest scorer during that time has 74 goals, so it shows how crucial James has been in us winning three league titles in ten years. We end our youth football years as Under 18s in the Premier Elite Division, the highest league in which we have ever played. James’ contribution has not just been about goals ether. It is no surprise that his ability has been noticed at academy level. Personable, charismatic and polite, James has won the Player of the Year accolade three times to sit alongside his numerous goalscoring awards, proving how much he is respected by his fellow players.
